if you can’t see the sarcasm in signing a post, Weimar Germany, I don’t know what to tell you..
Weimar Germany is a mirror of what we are going through right now. Poor economic conditions, a lack of leadership and a desire for things to just get back to the way they were. The vacuum that was created by apathy was filled by a dictator-in-waiting with a plan to save Germans from themselves. One of the contributing factors was key voting blocks decided to vote for a group or a party that had no chance of leading or even getting any influence in coalition govt, it was just a protest vote. The lack of a legislative majority, because of the protest voting, led to a plurality by a group nobody really liked, but managed to get small population groups in certain regions to vote for them. They then forced smaller parties to go along by promising to punish the second largest group and dole out power accordingly.
The historic parallels are frightening.
