Former Arkansas Governor and Fox News host, Mike Huckabee, spoke at The FAMiLY Leader’s Leadership Summit in Waukee, IA. He said that one of the greatest fears that someone could have is to be alone. He believes that traditional values voters often feel alone. He said that with Chick-fil-A appreciation day while people stood and waited in those long lines people realized they were not alone.
He said the purpose of Chick-fil-A day wasn’t about chicken sandwiches or even Chick-fil-A, it was about standing up to governmental abuse of power and free speech.
This wasn’t about Dan Cathy or something he said. It was about when mayors in United States cities actually used the position of power and authority that they held and said that they wouldn’t welcome a company because someone affiliated with the company had a point of view that they disagreed with. And a lot of us said, “Whoa! it is one thing to disagree. It’s one thing to even argue and to call names.” But to begin to use the power of government to put your boot on our throat and to tell us to shut up and go away and we are not welcome in places where we still have to pay taxes. There were a lot of us who said, “that is a bridge too far.”

I personally, not Mike Huckabee, would like to add that putting one’s faith and trust in electing Romney to help straighten up this nation’s problems...well they are going to be sorely disappointed in what they get. More problems....! Merely replacing Obama gets us nowhere. Politics have never really been the answer.
I’m not a Huckabee fan but he’s right about this. Our government is a reflection of we the people.
Amen to that. The democrats and republicans alternately continue moving the ball to the left. We now have the most leftist Democrat ever sitting in the W/H and the most leftist Republican ever trying to replace him. No matter which one wins, liberty loses. Evil vs evil begats evil.
However, let me be clear that I am NOT advocating that Christians should not participate in voting. For as the great English Baptist preacher, Charles H. Spurgeon, said in the 19th century:
“When Mr. Whitefield was once applied to use his influence at a general election, he returned answer to his lordship who requested him that he knew very little about general elections but that if his lordship took his advice he would make his own particular “calling and election sure,” which was a very proper remark. I would not, however, say to any persons here present, despise the privilege which you have as citizens. Far be it from me to do it! When we become Christians, we do not leave off being Englishmen! When we become professors of religion, we do not cease to have the rights and privileges which citizenship has bestowed on us. And Amen to what you just wrote! Maybe this is God’s way of driving us to our knees in prayer? His ways are not always crystal clear....but they are always right.

If rather than speaking in terms of leftist, secular liberal, Marxist, fascist, progressive, liberal church, and leftist and/or positivist Republicans we collapsed this dichotomy under the term “humanist” or Enlightenment humanist clear-speaking would replace confusion.
All of the aforementioned are types of Enlightenment humanism and what all of them have in common is the idea of deified humanity.
Herbert Schlossberg has surveyed the numerous secular and religious idols of modern Enlightenment thought in his book, “Idols for Destruction.” The idol at the top of his list is deified man.
Schlossberg notes that the idea of humanity as a deity is seldom avowed openly but rather is,
“…expressed by ascribing to man attributes of God: sovereignty (or autonomy), complete rationality, and moral perfection.” (p. 42)
By whatever label they attach to themselves, humanists have liberated themselves from Biblical moral restrictions and obligations and gained absolute license. Humanists are particularly comforted by the thought that they are no longer fallen, as the hero of Aldous Huxley’s utopia declares:
“What a comfort to be in a place where The Fall was an exploded doctrine!” (Schlossberg, p. 43)
Absolute license means that man is neither fallen nor any longer created in the spiritual image of the living God but rather self-created. This new notion of identity, says Daniel Bell, is the mark of modern humanism:
“I am I, I come out of myself, and in choice and action I make myself (and I am) free of the ascriptive ties of family, community, or state; to be responsible for oneself, and in choice and action I make myself.” (Schlossberg, p. 43)
In this light we can understand why humanists, whether Dem or Rep are increasingly hostile to any notion of transcendent Moral Law, unchanging Truth, traditional one man-one woman marriage, and male/female sexual norms:

By contrast, at it’s founding America was lauded as the freest most morally enlightened society ever known by man. The secret to its success lay in its’ firm grounding on the eternally unchanging Higher Things of the living God, that is, enduring Permanent truths which are sometimes called natural law or the first principles of ethics. In the Declaration of Independence they are called the laws of nature and nature’s God as well as unalienable rights.
Though many if not most of the architects of our Constitutional Republic were Christians, not all were, a small number, perhaps three or four, were Deists. However, all of them agreed that man is not born good and cannot be trusted with unfettered power, as self-deluded Enlightenment humanists asserted. America’s founders did not shy away from the distasteful reality that all men are born terrible-willed hedonists, as described by Dr. Terry G. Shaw:
“To understand…principles of human behavior…we must first begin by accepting (that) all humans are born hedonists and have an intrinsic need to seek pleasure, avoid pain, and engage in those activities that best accomplish both with the least amount of effort.” (Born Liberal Raised Right, Reb Bradley, p.19)
In 1926, Governor Theodore Christianson of Minnesota established the Minnesota Crime Commission to study crime and evaluate its causes. The commission eventually concluded that criminal tendencies were not the result of poverty, education, or environment as progressive humanists maintained. Instead, it affirmed that no man is born good:
“Every baby starts life as a little savage. He is completely selfish and self-centered. He wants what he wants when he wants it: his bottle, his mother’s attention, his playmates toys…or whatever. Deny him these and he seethes with rage and aggressiveness which could be murderous were he not so helpless. He’s dirty; he has no morals, no knowledge, no developed skills. This means that all children, not just certain children, but all children, are born delinquent. If permitted to continue in their self-centered world of infancy, given free rein to their impulsive actions to satisfy each want, every child would grow up a criminal, a thief, a killer, a rapist.” (ibid, p. 21)
Over fifty years ago, Conservative John Hallowell advised that if America and the West are to find redemption from the tyranny of unbridled humanist evil,
“We must restore to our vocabulary a word discarded long ago, namely sin.” (The Conservative Intellectual Movement in America, George Nash, p. 52)
An interesting conclusion. I’ve been thinking and saying the same for awhile now, and I’ve seen other people pick up on it as well. I do believe that we are under judgment right now, and that is why we have the evil leadership that we do (either Obama or Mittens). We’re being given over to these liars as our punishment for turning our backs on God and turning our faith and hope into ourselves and our own false righteousness. We expect evil men to fix the country instead of the Mighty God who established us in the first place.

GOV. HUCKABEE: I think if a doctor knowingly took the life of an unborn child for money, and that's why he was doing it, yeah, I think you would, you would find some way to sanction that doctor. I don't know that you'd put him in prison, but there's something to me untoward about a person who has committed himself to healing people and to making people alive who would take money to take an innocent life and to make that life dead. There's something that just doesn't ring true about the purpose of medical practice when the first rule of the Hippocratic Oath is "First, do no harm." Well, if you take the life and suction out the pieces of an unborn child for no reason than its inconvenience to the mother, I don't think you've lived up to your Hippocratic Oath of doing no harm.
GOV. HUCKABEE: I've been very clear about it. Mitt Romney is running a very desperate and, frankly, a dishonest campaign...And I just felt like that when Mitt Romney gets on your show and says that he had the NRA endorsement when he didn't; when he comes on and says he's pro-life and yet he signed a bill that gives a $50 co-pay for an elective abortion in his state's health care plan; when he claims that he's really for the Second Amendment, but he--on this show he talked about how he supported limitations and restrictions on lawful, law-abiding citizens having gun ownership rights, those are not the marks of a person who's pro-life and pro-Second Amendment. And then the things where he's made up these visions that he's had of marching with Martin Luther King and his dad marching with him. I think it “may” be because he is starting to realize he does best at being a Baptist preacher instead of a politician. He sounds like a preacher in this article...not a “careful” politicain.
I remember well the crevo threads and libertarians that insisted that social conservatism was a losing issue, and that may be true, but it will receive no test in this election.
I have built no golden calf, nor will I follow those that intend to do so. I fear we have became Scythian.
Couldn't agree more - hence my tagline. Without God's grace, it will be a bleak four years regardless of who wins between the two major candidates.
I like Mike Huckabee as a person - I just don't like his politics that much but if he were heading the ticket he'd get my vote. Romney won't.
