Ryan attracting younger voters
The American Spectator ^ | August 14, 2012 | Thomas Lifson

Paul Ryan's realism about the fiscal cliff is showing signs of appealing to younger voters, a group which overwhelmingly voted for Obama, and which has been buffeted by the economy worse than most other demographic slices. The Washington Examiner reports on the latest Zogby poll:

"According to Zogby the Ryan pick helped Romney with younger voters and independents, two key battleground constituencies. "Romney saw a bump in support among 18-29 year olds with 41 percent saying they would vote for the ticket of Romney and Ryan," said Zogby. "More importantly, Romney and Ryan led Obama and Biden among independent voters 45 percent to 40 percent." [emphasis added]

Added the pollsters: "If numbers like this hold, this could spell real trouble for the president who won with 66 percent of 18-29 year olds in 2008."

If the young guy is winning the youth vote, watch for Obama’s hair to turn black again.

I got it - nothing matters. We should just wait for it all to go up in flames - right?

Good on ya mate - that’ll show em...

Pyhrric victory - one to brag about to the grandkids. “Yep - I sat back and watched it all burn...”

My Rush/Reagan ‘baby’ is thrilled......and so are his friends! They will be walking on broken glass to get to the polls.

“True. But no vote or a 3rd party vote is one less vote Obama will need to win.”

You are correct.

The under 30s, are not Gen-X, and I doubt the under 30 vote will be 52% republican like it was in 1972, when the draft and Vietnam were going on.

Oops, my mistake, Ryan is a pretty good figure to be emerging as a big image of Gen-X.

If my vote was important to the GOP, they would have run a conservative, shut Rove up when he badmouthed conservatives, not changed the rules midgame, and all the other down and dirty tricks they do.

Blame them, not the people that won't vote for your boy.

I’m in it for my country.

So am I, Sandy. I'm convinced that this country doesn't need a liberal of either party as leadership.

Right, right - Virgil Goode - the principled former long time Democrat, turned Independent, turned Republican, turned “Constitution” Party who aligned with the Greens and has made a major part of his campaign platform the wasteful programs spending billions on “high speed rail” systems.

Voting for Goode is a vote to say you don’t mind keeping Obama in office - and if that happens it won’t matter who the Republican party voters nominate next time. He will have control of the country for a generation with another 4 years of judicial appointments and Obamacare will be fully implemented and entrenched with no hope of repeal.

I don't think we got that. Can you tell us it again?

Seriously, I really don't understand why the “I'm never voting for Romney” crowd show up on every Romney and election thread, just to tell everyone for the hundredth time that they are not voting for Romney.

If you are not voting for anyone that will win, you really have no dog in this fight.

Someone needs to remind people that this is a conservative website, not a GOP website.

I do have a dog in this fight because those that are voting for the GOP liberal are just enabling the GOP-E to move further left, again.

I would love to see the GOP run a conservative, quit cheating, changing rules in the middle of the game, and quit badmouthing conservatives (Rove).

Don't tell me I don't have a dog in this fight. It's my country just as much as it is yours.

I'll post where I like, and I won't be shut up.

If my vote was important to the GOP...

Who gives a s@!t about what the GOP thinks??!

You just told Kara: It's my country just as much as it is yours. So your idea of patriotism is to wash you hands of your patriotic duty when a sufficiently conservative candidate can't convince enough of the electorate to support them?

I only engaged you on this thread because of your original comments:

That is absolutely false.
My vote won't increase Obama's vote count by a single vote.
Math is difficult for some people.

Johnny - take it like a man.

I proved that withholding your vote will increase BOs vote tally percentage. So what do you do? You change the parameters. You move the goal posts.

If you want to make a statement about how GOP isn’t conservative enough, fine - I can accept that. But at least be intellectually honest; the fact is, withholding your vote WILL improve Obama’s chances - just admit it. Don’t weasel out of it like an excuse-making lib…

My patriotic responsibility is to not vote for a liberal of any party, and leave the outcome in God's hands.

I will not vote for Obama, so he does not have that vote to add to his total. Period.

Sorry if that means your boy won't win. BTW, there were a lot of dirty tricks in places like Virginia and Florida, and places where rules were changed in mid-game.

The GOP played dirty to get Romney nominated. Blame them.

I didn't say you couldn't post. You obviously can and do.

I just didn't understand why you do. If someone does not care about the outcome of the election, they do not have a dog in this fight.

However, it seems you do care about the outcome. You want Obama to win. I get it now. That will really teach them a lesson.

BTW, I am well aware that this is a conservative site. I am also a conservative first, but I am also a republican before a communist.

You want Obama to win.

I don't want Obama or Romney to win.

You might want to knock off that kind of allegation.

Sad that someone that has been on the site for almost 13 years gets told he wants Obama to win because he won't vote for the GOP liberal.

Okay, come back to reality. One of them is going to win.

You just said that you come to these threads to convince other people not to vote for Romney too. If you succeed in getting enough republicans to vote for a third party candidate that has zero chance of winning. Who do you think is going to win?

So, that is your dog in this fight. Your goal is for Romney to lose.
Well, someone that has been on this site for 13 years must know how elections work. If you succeed in getting someone to lose, someone else will win.
Who do you think that will be?
