Delaware was a slave state, by the way

Delaware wasn't much of a slave state. Slavery was banned in Wilmington from the early 1800’s. It was illegal to export slaves from Delaware, and freemen far outnumbered slaves.

In 1860 blacks made up over 23% of the state's population with the following breakout:
COUNTY SLAVES FREE TOTAL
New Castle 254 8,188 8,442
Kent 303 7,271 7,474
Sussex 1,341 4,370 5,711
Total 1,798 19,829 21,627
