Polls closed in Connecticut at 8 p.m. as voters cast ballots in the state's primary elections Tuesday.

The Associated Press delcared Linda McMahon the winner of the GOP Senate race over Chris Shays about 40 minutes after the polls closed.

Elections officials said turnout appears to be on track to hit 25 percent to 30 percent as Republicans and Democrats picked their candidates for the November general election.

Hotly contested races for the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives dominate Tuesday's ballots.

Many polling places saw a slow stream of voters.

Secretary of the State's office spokesman Av Harris said turnout was 7 to 8 percent in the morning and no major problems were reported.

Cf, are you nutz?
we will be working here to undermine Roraback who will crash and burn. Esty is the next congressperson. We come back in ‘14 with a conservative against her.

Roraback is not a possibility. Must be flushed.

There is a libertarian guy running around with petitions.

One thing I noticed when I went to the polls...there were more republicans voting then dems. Like a 10-1 ratio. I wasn’t even think about it, but it was so apparent when I walked in, I kinda got excited. Add the defeatist look on the dem poll workers faces, and my day was made!

Yeah, I've had that temporary sense of excitement while voting in Connecticut before. However... look at the politicians we end up with. Over and over again. And with so many businesses and conservatives moving out of CT, it's only going to get worse.

The GOP in CT is dead, IMO. Connecticut is hopeless...

“Please tell me how is this wrasslin whore, epitome of what is wrong in the culture, going to do as a politician?”

You may think whatever you wish, but the McMahons support our troops consistently, doing shows in Afghan/Iraq, etc. And she’s a damn site better than Shays.

I’m so stuck here. :( Last year it was five houses in foreclosure on my street, now my neighbors on either side of me are also ... in foreclosure. Seven within stone’s throw.

I hear ya... ;-)

Honestly, these days, the only dream hubby and I have is moving out of Connecticut. If we keep ending up with pro-union, gutter-dwelling 'RAT governors like Malloy (obviously elected purely by voter fraud) we WILL get out of here sooner, rather than later.

Unfortunately we can't go anywhere yet. However several of our friends and family members have already left, or are actively making plans to leave. They're mostly moving to states like Florida or Georgia... Red or "purple" states with no state income tax.

I'm not sure what's going on, but the number of 'for sale' signs in my immediate neighborhood is astounding...

Shays just assumed we welcome him back. He is a fool and obviously wrong on just abotu everything.

Bingo. When I saw he was running again - I just laughed. First thought: "WHY would I waste my vote on Shays??"

I dunno. But it appears she took out some trash this past evening.

Ever hear of Shays-Meehan? That's the law the Supreme Court overturned in Citizens United. It was an assault on the First Amendment in the name of protecting the Political Class. God Damn the Political Class! Shays is a traitor to the United States!

I'd venture our "culture" will be significantly improved with her in the Senate instead of Shays.

Chris Shays blew it when he said he wouldn’t vote for Linda McMahon in the general and made himself look petulant.

Chris Shays doesn't like the First Amendment. Chris Shays is a Traitor!
