Yeah..now this applies to kids up to 26..plus a lot of other basement dwellers who wait for Mom to cook their dinner.
This was on Yahoo???? Wow.
Great advice!!
I’d bet you’d have to read it for them. They probably can’t read.
Best post I’ve seen this week.
When our kids were teens we reminded them frequently that the only thing we owed them was a bed, one set of clothes, and three meals a day until they were 18 and then we were obligated for nothing. Anything beyond that was a gift.
Of course they had way more than that, but the statement often kept things in perspective.
We now have 2 college educated successful adults. Both are very conservative (Our daughter is a PaulBot but we can live with that.) From the day they graduated from college they have asked for nothing. We are pleased with how they have turned out.
It was the kiss of death to tell my mother, then with my kids to tell me that they were bored. Boredom meant that it was time for chores.
I think that my oldest only said it two or three times and my youngest learned from his brother’s mistake and never said that he was bored. LOL
I’d like to add, get an amateur radio license. I have no problem with adult children staying at home as long as they do their share of the chores and/or drop their share of shekles into the common pot.
