Ross Murty, the co-owner of the Village Corner Deli in Davenport, is a proud small-business owner who isn’t afraid to speak his mind.
Serving up pulled pork, beans and cheesy potatoes for the press at the president’s campaign event this evening, Murty wore a T-shirt that said, “Government Didn’t Build my Business, I Did.”
The shirt is a reference to a comment Obama made last month. While discussing the importance of government investments in public services, the president said, “If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. … Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business — you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.”

I would have LOVED to see this guy build his business without any loans, education, or tax breaks (all paid for by the taxpayers).

Ignore the naysayers. I understood your comment, and totally agree with your reason for posting it.
I would love to respond to the idiocy - but I have learned not to bother. My response would have been along the lines of: I never took a loan for my business, I was educated in private schools, and never got any ta breaks - what’s your reason for living on the public dole?
Any other event fine.
Most of those ‘government loans’ go to the people who fail at business. They’re the folks who specialize in getting loans - not in doing business.

What I’d like to know is how are they going to encourage productivity when they remove any motivation?
