CHICAGO — Tens of thousands of young illegal immigrants waited excitedly in lines as long as a mile and thronged to information sessions across the country on Wednesday, the first day that a federal immigration agency began accepting applications for deportation deferrals that include permits to work legally.
The public outpouring surprised both federal officials and immigrant advocates, who had expected an enthusiastic response to the Obama administration’s deferral program but were unprepared for the size and intensity of it. At Navy Pier here, young people began lining up on Tuesday evening for a counseling session about the program that was organized by an immigrants’ rights group.
By midmorning Wednesday, the line wound down the long pier, through a park and along an expressway, with young people holding sheafs of documents that they hoped would prove that they qualified for the program. By noon, event organizers said, 11,500 people had attended briefings, and more than 2,000 people had been turned away because there was not enough time or staff to deal with them.
In New York, the City Council announced that it had set aside $3 million to provide free legal services to deferral applicants through a network of community organizations.
“The City Council has made this investment because we believe that undocumented immigrants have a right to an education and a safe and productive life here in the U.S.,” Speaker Christine C. Quinn said.

Romney should grow a pair of stones on this issue and simply say: “I’ll see that my attorney general enforces the law.”

I’m going to take your comment seriously.
He can “propose a law” until his lips turn blue. (If they aren’t already.) But the reason he issued a tyrannical, executive diktat is that he and his supporters—and I include McCain, Luger, et al., even Dubya—couldn’t pass a (so-called) `DREAM’ act or “comprehensive immigration reform”.
So he’s usurping the role of the legislature and frustrating the will of the people.
Why? Because he’s a t-y-r-a-n-t. It’s incredible to me that there are those here who call Romney “the lesser of two evils,” as if the two can be compared. There’s no comparison.
And if he gets another four years, you ain’t seen nuthin’ yet.

Really? It was “unexpected”?
Not entirely.
“It’s 800,000 people. And, by the way, that number is low. It’s gonna be many, many more people than that.” - Rush Limbaugh, just after Obama’s lawless “Dream” Act was announced.
The big downside for the Illegal activists is that the current estimated number of Dreamers is currently 1.7 million, up from the original 800,000.
It’s really a lot more that that because the actual number of illegals in the country is far more than the ridiculus 12 million people estimate that has been used in the media unchanged since around 1997.
The 12 million people illegal alien estimate that has been in use, unchanged since 1997 despite a massive influx of many millions of illegals per year in the intervening 15 years, was chosen as a “safe” number that sounds large enough to be an issue worth=y of notice but at the same time, is a number that is small enough not to pose a threat to the American status quo and the lives of American citizens.
The real number of illegals in the country is more like 40 plus million people, based on the population numbers from the latest census.
If enough Dreamers sign up and swamp the system with enough applications to give people a real perspective on just how many illegals really are in the country, it may change peoples opinion on the wisdom of granting 40 million Third World with a Bananna Republic civics world view citizenship and voting rights.
For the math challenged, with 40 million illegals in the country, that means that just over 1 in 8 people residing within the borders of the US are non citizens who are here illegally.
This pretty much explains all the Dial 1 for Spanish or dial 2 for English phone options we are subjected to.

Undocumented immigrants who qualify for a new immigration relief program that would allow them to stay in the US without hassle turned out to Navy Pier to register.
They've got both feet firmly planted on U. S. soil. That's how they qualified.
We'll see how fast this one segment of the illegals in the United States reaches the 10 million mark, they keep saying accounts for ALL illegal immigrants in the United States.
Yesterday, Florida radio was reporting hourly on the lines forming in various locales where hordes of illegals were emerging from the underground shadows, lining up for their forms.
There's no jobs for these millions, just welfare, unemployment checks and countless other benefits paid for by us, the productive. This is Obamas' "redistribution of wealth" bursting out in fruition for even the most obtuse to see.
Nothing good comes from an out-of-work, restless army of jobless malcontents seething within our borders and in our neighborhoods. History demonstrates this to us over and over again.
The catastrophic results of this Trojan army of aliens surfacing all around us will be on the hands of our illegal president and his ruling kremlin of 40-or-so unelected marxist czars who have an iron boot on our throats.
.....all this happening while the elected members of our houses of congress do NADA to protect us....not even a peep of protest or rational action from them.
