Well, I think the issue is they look too much at the end result and not the causal factors. Some people like me never have high cholesterol levels despite what we eat and some have high levels even if they are eating nothing but tofu and salads with no salad dressing...

I think the best thing to extend lives would be a “freshly cloned body and brain transplant” then the old fogies would not be eligible for Social Security for another 40-50 years and would be able to work another 40-50 years till the next body transplant or retirement.

And by freshly cloned body I mean one that is created by “printing” out a new one using either the patient’s own cells or “genetically engineered universal donor” cells that could be a very much a “universal biological prosthetic body “.

Why do I bring up all this “whole body replacement stuff”?

Because it would be the only damn thing that would be able to shut up all the food Nazi’s telling us what we can eat and or not eat. They wouldn’t be able to bitch about eating too many eggs if a person would be able to trade in a wrecked body like we can trade in a wrecked car.

Eat smart, exercise, get plenty of sleep - and die anyway.

The medical community seems to constantly be changing their views on what is healthy. Seems best to just use your common sense and don't worry about chasing after the latest health advice.

As a side note, I saw a most amusing letter to the editor from a nutritionist of all things. She stated that eating red meat increased your risk of dying by 20%. Um. . .I think the risk of dying is already 100% for everyone, so how do you increase it by 20%?

Yep, the nannies used their anti-tobacco crusade to lay the foundation. Now they are moving on to other consumables. Many a FReeper celebrated their efforts and will now have to live with the results...

Can’t say we didn’t warn them.

Try as we might, nothing can save us from our appointed time.

Bingo! And once a person accepts that, the reduction in stress from not worrying about what he eats, drinks, or breathes probably adds years of life!

I wish they would make up their minds.

They have made up their minds. It’s applied political science. There’s lots of money to be made from the gullible. All you have to do is publish pure Bull Crap and expect that a huge percentage will spend money on their new answer to paranoid living. If that fails, do a Barack & Moochelle and legislate it with fines for failure to comply.

“I eat my eggs either scrambled or in an omelet...”

...I’ve been on low carb for 14 years and all my blood levels are excellent! I too take Omega 3’s along with probiotics. I allow one sweet thing a day. Usually 75 - 80% cocoa chocolate.

Try coconut oil, best stuff on earth and it’s got a pretty high smoke point.

I wish they would make up their minds.

If they did they couldn't get their 15 minutes of fame by issuing press releases puffing their latest "discovery." Most of today's so-called "science" is a mixture of liberal politics and publicity.

I booze up too on the weekends so I’m good too.

To these “scientists’ every food is a buzzkill.

My grandfather ate eggs, bacon, and biscuits every morning for his entire life.(literally, I never saw him vary). Not only that, he would use his biscuits to sop up the bacon drippings out of the pan. He lived to 86. His brother ate much the same way AND smoked until he was in his 70’s, he recently passed away at the ripe old age of 97.

Jack Lalanne’s brother, who wasn’t an exercise freak, actually wound up outliving his brother by a year.

Don't like the results of this "study" ? Just wait until next week for another study to come out showing opposite results.

My advice FWIW ... everything in moderation and don't listen to these imbecilic studies ... the stress they cause will kill you

My eggs stick to the pan when I cook them in bacon grease.
