Hateful speech on hate groups (The Family Research Council is NOT a hate group)
Washington Post ^ | 08/17/2012 | Dana Milbank

Posted on 08/17/2012 7:06:05 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest gay rights organization, posted an alert on its blog Tuesday: “Paul Ryan Speaking at Hate Group’s Annual Conference.”

The “hate group” that the Republicans’ vice presidential candidate would be addressing? The Family Research Council, a mainstream conservative think tank founded by James Dobson and run for many years by Gary Bauer.

The day after the gay rights group’s alert went out, 28-year-old Floyd Lee Corkins II walked into the Family Research Council’s Washington headquarters and, according to an FBI affidavit, proclaimed words to the effect of “I don’t like your politics” — and shot the security guard. Corkins, who had recently volunteered at a gay community center, was carrying a 9mm handgun, a box of ammunition and a backpack full of Chick-fil-A — the company whose president recently spoke out against gay marriage.

Mercifully, the gunman was restrained, and nobody was killed. When I walked by the Family Research Council building at 8th and G streets NW on Thursday afternoon, things were returning to normal. Outside the main doors, above which is inscribed the group’s “Faith, Family, Freedom” motto, some discarded yellow police tape lay on the sidewalk. Attention to the incident had already begun to fade.

That’s unfortunate, because this shooting should remind us all of an important truth: that while much of the political anger in America today lies on the right, there are unbalanced and potentially violent people of all political persuasions. The rest of us need to be careful about hurling accusations that can stir up the crazies.

Human Rights Campaign isn’t responsible for the shooting. Neither should the organization that deemed the FRC a “hate group,” the Southern Poverty Law Center, be blamed for a madman’s act.

I am stunned to read this from the normally arrogant leftist SOB Dana Milbank. Of course his media buddies will still ignore the story.

Everything that the left disagrees with his “hate”.

I have NEVER come across a lefty in my life that does not resort to SLANDER, attempt to CENSOR, or RUNS AWAY when losing a debate.

That’s the kind of rhetoric that caused the shooting in the first place.

This is a way to ‘Blame the Victim’ for the actions of one of the Left’s ‘Protected Classes’.............

I can't believe it -- Milbank is actually on the right side of an issue.

BTW, he made an importan "but" in the sentence immediately following the last sentence in the excerpt:

But both are reckless in labeling as a “hate group” a policy shop that advocates for a full range of conservative Christian positions, on issues from stem cells to euthanasia.

It’s very difficult to have true policy discussions with the left, because of their childlike emotional reactions that those who oppose them are full of hatred.

For example, if you oppose homosexual marriage, the liberal view is that you hate homosexuals.

If you oppose abortion on demand as espoused by Roe vs. Wade, you hate women.

If you oppose the Obama administration mandate on birth control, you also hate women.

If you oppose illegal immigration, you are xenophobic and hate such people. And often it’s carried a step further that you hate all immigrants, even those who are here legally, if you express concern about illegal aliens.

If you oppose the whole global warming thing, you are anti-environment, and you are anti-science.

If you oppose tax proposals of Obama and others to raise taxes, you hate the poor who depend on government programs.

If you oppose the huge expansion of the food stamp program, you are heartless and want to see kids go hungry.

If you oppose further expansions of college financial aid programs, you don’t want to see kids go to college. In fact you want them to stay uneducated.

There are other examples but you get the point. How do you have honest policy debates on issues such as these, when the liberals insist on demonizing anyone with an opposing point of view????

"while much of the political anger in America today lies on the right..."

"I took issue with Glenn Beck before his fall for stirring up the unstable by promoting conspiracy theories in the mass media; more than one Beck follower became violent. What the Southern Poverty Law Center and Human Rights Campaign have done isn’t close to the level of provocation Beck achieved, but that doesn’t justify their actions."

See my tagline.

Indeed, FRC is not a hate group, however, they are classified as such by the radically leftist "Southern Poverty Law Center".

I was debating with a homosexual about the whole Chik-Fil-A thing, and he stated that the SPLC "the foremost authority on hate groups" classified FRC as a hate group. I just laughed at him and said, "According to the SPLC, any group that disagrees with their radically leftist views is labeled a hate group by them. They're a joke."

Needless to say, he was a tad upset with my disdain for SPLC.

more than one Beck follower became violent.

He provides no citations for this calumny.

Anybody or group that disagrees with the perverted homosexuals, will be flagged as a hate group.

I tell them that I have as much authority as the SPLC to designate hate groups, and I designate the SPLC as a hate group.

There is no way, especially according to their relativistic worldview, that my designation is any less valid than the SPLC’s.

Simple explanation - the whole of the left is anti-Christian.
Homos are a handy weapon, and are being used to criminalize Christianity.

I think that Milbank realizes that the language used by these so called "homosexual rights groups" labeling groups like FRC as a hate group will quickly backfire on the leftists, as people begin to realize that these so called "hate groups" happen to support the beliefs of the vast majority of the country, turning popular support against the left.

I believe this is also the reason the "ministry of propaganda" is doing everything in their power to hide the details of this shooting. When people know the details, it will generate anger against the left.
