In the wake of the shooting, a Jets Pizza franchise in Dearborn ruled it will no longer deliver to Detroit after dark. Before the shooting, they sent two drivers to every nighttime Detroit delivery, one of whom was armed, Joan McKenna said.
Joan McKenna thinks any claims of racism are hogwash.
“You want to talk about racism? This has nothing to do with color, it has to do with people who are not willing to get up, plug in the coffee maker, and go to work … Come on, get a job, we’re not talking race here,”

Pretty common really. Lots of companies won’t deliver to certain neighborhoods after dark in a lot of cities.

Ha. Jets pizza already boycotted them. I wouldn’t deliver in the daytime, either. Of course I would not have a business anywhere near deeeetroit.
How about this good town car? It is a tad expensive and it would take a lot of pizzas but I would feel pretty comfortable in it cruising the urban jungles.

Pittsburgh has several areas that pizza deliverers don’t go at all, but sending an armed backup seems a bit much.

It seems more to do with “don’t shoot my freakin’ Pizza (delivery) Guy and expect me to keep sending him to your neighborhood!”
This falls under the rule, “Always be cool to the Pizza Guy.”

Dang straight. Back in the day he used to get a beer and a joint when he delivered to our place. Dog didn’t bark either. he knew who it was!

In the ‘burbs they will hire armed delivery people from the inner city and THEY will stick you up since the Pizza Co deprived them of their livelihood by not serving their neighborhoods anymore.
This happened before...the cities are in trouble when businesses decide the risk to life is greater than the reward of profit.
Chicago had best get rid of the racist gangs and the Mayor who encourages it, who are shooting up the streets or they are going to be Detroit.

I was robbed twice delivering pizzas in Lansing, MI in the early 90’s.
