Lombard's [IL] village president just died from West Nile Virus. He was my husband's scout leader way back when. Great guy! So sad. http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2012/08/18/lombard-village-president-dies-of-west-nile-virus/

An old political buddy and great guy named Bill Mueller died the other day. He was president of the town of Lombard, Du Page County, Illinois for five consecutive terms and was loved by the community.

He was bitten by a mosquito and contacted West Nile virus. He already was battling blood cancer, but it was the virus that got him. He was not that old.....76.

A week or so ago, a Villa Park man died of the virus. Same county, same state. Villa Park adjoins Lombard to the east.

A relative in nearby Downers Grove told me ony half in jest that she is "hermetically-sealed" in her home for a while.

These towns are in suburban Chicago directly west of the city. This outbreak has got to be scaring people out of their wits in the area.
