I hope Romney keeps our troops in for at least another 5 years.
There is alot more work to be done.

Absolutely not. We are throwing lives and money away over there.

“Afghanistan forces must be rigorously vetted”
There’s a brainstorm.
Good luck with that.

You want them to stay. Change the ROE. Stop worrying about “civilian” casualties. Free up the trigger fingers.

You forgot the sarcasm tag. We should have left the minute Bin Laden was killed. Nothing in Afghanistan is worth the life of one more American. Afghanistan will never come out of the 9th century. We did what we set out to do. The Afghans need to sort this out on their own now. If they act up again we bomb them back to the 8th century. It’s long past time to bring our troops home.

I guess Panetta is thinking “better late than never”.
Proper and conservative thinking would state “Better Never Late”
There is absolutely no leadership in our Country, does anyone in the thrones of power care...I can’t hear them if they do.
The first principle of leadership is to know your soldiers and take care for their welfare...or at least it use to be.

I've got a better idea, Mr. Panetta. Let's pull every U.S. soldier out of Afghanistan and "vet" our own political and military leadership before wasting any more time, money and lives there.
You know what I mean, too. Isn't that why U.S. soldiers had their weapons taken away from them when you visited there a few months ago?

Wow, give SecDef Panetta the General Obvious Award for this statement. By the way, Mr. Secretary, when is your boss, the Muslim-in-Chief Barack Hussein Obama, going to be FULLY vetted? Answer that one, Leon.
To: moonshot925
And just what and how does Mr. Communist want them vetted?

Leon "Stroke of the pen" Panetta the current Secretary of Defense and the one who 'outed' Dr. Shakil Afridi for his part in helping intelligence locate OBL. That good man is now in jail and put there by the flapping lips of Panetta, Obama, Clinton, and others who should have known better. For a nation the screams with abhorrence at the mere thought of 'water boarding' a prisoner, they threw Dr. Shakil Afridi to the worst of the worst for torture AND still giving AID through agencies like USAID to Pakistan. Another huge embarrassment for America.

Gee leon, what ever made you come up with that brainstorm idea? Did going up against a dug in fanatic guerrilla force engaged in a sapper war for close to three decades in some of the most inhospitable territory known to man seem like a win-win situation to you? You can't bomb them back to the 9th century, because they already live there; you can't break their will or reason with them, because you can't convince fanatics; and can't isolate them because they're already isolated from the world in virtually all aspects. The only way you could keep them contained is just that; seal off the country from the rest of the world, and. Let them burn themselves out.

They are as stone age savage and backwards as the day we went in. If we are there for a violent war mission, fine. But not 5 more years, or 5 more minutes to push the insane notion that they will ever be a free society. It isn’t worth a single life to do anything for those Afghans.
They are not my concern as a people beyond their military capability.
And the farce of our soldiers walking by opium fields under strict orders not to damage them, us giving them attack aircraft, us pretending that that they are ‘people’ in the same manner that we are is insane.
The only way we should be there is a absolute rulers, with no pretext of an Afghan government. Islam should be forbidden and eradicated. There is no other way to build a society there.

You are not going to change anyone’s character by vetting them.Instead recruit people who lost the lives of relatives to the insurgents or who’ve been in conflict with the Taliban.
People with personal reasons to fight versus people who make good recruits would be intelligent.Hiring from tribes that have the most to lose if the Taliban win, would also be a good idea but since that is politically incorrect......
Also slightly 10 years after an invasion is kind of late in the game to be planning this.Clarifying what we’re doing here, would be nice otherwise just leave this hellhole to destroy itself.
