(LONDON) -- WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange appeared Sunday for the first time since he took refuge in the Ecuadorean Embassy in London, calling for the release of Bradley Manning, who is accused of leaking documents to the whistlebowling website, and urging President Obama to "do the right thing" and end the "witch-hunt" against WikiLeaks.
For the past two years, Assange, 41, has fought extradition efforts to send him to Sweden, where he faces questioning over alleged sexual assaults against two women. The Australian has said he fears Swedish authorities will hand him over to U.S. officials.
Ecuador granted Assange political asylum Thursday, but he has been threatened with arrest if he leaves the country's 10-room London embassy, where he has been holed up for the past two months.
Appearing on a balcony, Assange read a prepared statement to more than 200 supporters, reporters and dozens of British police.
"I ask President Obama to do the right thing. The United States must renounce its witch hunt against WikiLeaks," Assange said. "The United States must dissolve its FBI investigation. The United States must vow that it will not seek to prosecute our staff or our supporters."
Assange called Bradley Manning, a U.S. soldier who is accused of passing classified material to WikiLeaks, "one of the world's foremost political prisoners."

As for Bradley Manning, he's a traitor and should be subject to UCMJ and dealt with appropriately.
We may never fully know the damage these two a**holes caused or how many lives were lost because of what they did. For that, they should lose their lives, IMO>
I agree. The way I see it, Assange and Manning are both murderers and both should be executed for their treason.
Not that I disagree, but he has yet to be charges with anything, under any jurisdiction. His unpardonable sin was to reveal the cozy corruption and shady dealings of bankers and politicians, facilitated by our diplomats.

Using propaganda words like ‘witch hunt’ will not offset the terrible thing he has done. Do not be swayed. Bide our time and get him. He deserves it!
For traitors: In Russia the FSB (old KGB) would put a bullet in the back of his head and send the bill for the cost of that bullet to his family. Russians have a real sense of irony.

I have a cynical smile as I read on. Travel advisories abound for this country. Of course the historic buildings built by Europeans are a wonder. Plus the exotic creatures on that island, the Galapagos of Darwin adventures.
Whoa Canadians and others, perhaps do not go (in so many polite words). The problems read like old Mexico, and other lawless roads. Theft of tourists property. The violent demonstrations. Break down of proper authority here and there. Organized crime. No respect for strangers, indeed they are viewed as "mugs" for being affluent and going there.

Assange and aManning are traitors. both should be executed,but who ratted on the Seals, who set up the helicopter massacre that killled so many who gave Seal info to Hollywood while they made a movie. Who is responsible for White House leaks intended to make Obama the Osama killer a hero.
Is the President who casually slid these leaks to a waiting orgasming press any less a traitor?
P.S. Who got the Iranian Doctor arrested and imprisoned. Leon Panetta needs the same punishment.

He apparently does not understand what the word “witch hunt” means. First, the USA is not involved in his current legal troubles. Second, if the USA were involved, it would be in prosecuting him for espionage which he undoubtedly committed, by his own admission.
Assange is not a US citizen so technically he isn’t a traitor to us. Manning is! Assange is conducting and has conducted a form of “information warfare†against us. However he is not a “state actor†or so it’s really a form of terrorism. I think I read somewhere that Assange is a Australian citizen.

Exactly those good old days when traitors were shot in the back of the head. The KGB were the Good Guys and the Bad Guys were the traitors. Many of you still don’t see the whole picture only by what the government media tells us about Julian Assange. As for Bradly Manning I agree he should not have leaked any miltary information and should have blocked out names and there should besome punishment.
Many of you would applaud and stomp your feets if Julian Assange leaked info on the Federal Reserve and its board member and many international bankers.
Of course our government would never lie to us so I guess one has to yank it out of them, but wait we have to be nice and except everything that is told us just like the liberal lemons do.
There is more to this picture folks than what meets the eye.
Australia is an ally and he revealed data that compromised the safety of Australian troops in a forward area. There is a reason why he did not return to his home country.
Since he’s so fond of using to kill maybe he’s afraid Obama has a Predator with Assange’s name on it.
