One of the defining moments in my journey from apolitical, drunken partier to small “l” libertarian to social conservative was attending the “wedding” of a lesbian couple with whom I was friends. Well, not sure how to describe them since one of the pair had undergone testosterone therapy and had her breasts surgically removed, to become a “man.”

The backyard “wedding” was a sham-solemn event with an MCC “pastor,” full of platitudes and wrested scripture. This I knew from having attended a private Baptist school for several years in my youth. It was brief enough, though, and then on to the drunken revelry.

I'll add at this point that they regarded themselves as both being “straight” because of this hormonal and surgical alteration to one of the pair. It was mindboggling to me at the time, and still is.

To make a long story short, the party went on to the wee hours and I stumbled upon the still-entirely-female of the pair on a trip to the bathroom. She was in there with another lesbian, in a very compromising position and in a flagrant state of undress. Beyond that I won't describe. On her “wedding” night. In their house.

I never got over the hypocrisy and the dishonesty of that. I actually pitied the other of the pair at that point. Such a lie they were living. What was the point?

It's all a lie, they don't want to do anything but force other people to regard them as normal. They particularly want to force churches to marry them and to stop calling their behavior sin.
