Ted Cruz, Texas's Tea Party candidate for Senate, gave a rather embarrassing education to the Washington Post's E.J. Dionne on NBC's Meet the Press Sunday regarding President Obama's budget proposal.
When Dionne had the audacity to call it "a serious plan," Cruz marvelously replied, "It got zero votes. Not a Democrat in the Senate voted for it. Not a one" (video follows with transcript and commentary):
E.J. DIONNE, WASHINGTON POST: President Obama put a plan on the table that would balance the budget in twelve years, which is quicker than the Ryan budget. I'm a liberal. I didn't even agree with everything that was in that plan. But this notion that this president hasn't put down budget proposals. He tried to reach a deal with John Boehner and that deal fell through, but he was willing to put a lot on the table.TED CRUZ, REPUBLICAN SENATORIAL CANDIDATE FROM TEXAS: How many votes did that plan get?
DIONNE: Well, that is a side issue.
I doubt it would be a side issue if the President were a Republican with control of the Senate.
But I digress:
CRUZ: It got zero votes. Not a Democrat in the Senate voted for it. Not a one.DIONNE: Yes, because the vote was put up there as a political matter. The fact is it was a serious plan and serious budgets get voted on.
CRUZ: It got zero votes in the Senate. Thats not a serious plan.
No, something that doesn't get a single vote is not a serious plan.
Dionne would fervently agree if Obama were a Republican.
LOL! It’s easy to make fools of these guys, though. Heck, they pretty much do it themselves.
A “side issue” — LOL. What dunderheads.
Heck, I could propose a budget that would balance next year. But then it would not get any votes either. What would E.J. have to say about that?
Notice the extreme arrogance of this typical Washington Post mega-lying douchebag, and how he talks over Cruz, who can barely get the truth out.
This is going to happen an awful lot in the future, Cruz is so much smarter than your smartest commie lib.
How many of us get 12 years to balance our household budgets?
Proposing a budget and having it voted upon necessarily makes it a pivotal issue, not a side issue.
A side issue would be if members of a certain caucus supported it or opposed it, or something of that nature.
Dionne knows he’s a liar. He has zero integrity and zero shame.
Well Dionne is a Rat so he has zero integrity & no shame by definition!
I voted for Ted in the Primary and in the run-off. He will be a great U.S. Senator. It’s so important that we hold the House and take back the Senate so we can keep the Marxist Muslim in the Oval Office in check for 4 years if he gets reelected.
The disconnect between these two statements is unbelievable. It got zero votes because it was only put to a vote as a political matter and yet it was a serious plan and serious budgets get voted upon?
Why was it not a serious plan if it was voted on in Congress other than the fact that it repeals the Obama Tax Cut extension.
Pray for America
Heh. This Conservative American is going to be refreshingly fun to watch when the Impeachment is under way.
Dionne tried to overawe the new guy, and Cruz handed him his head on a stick like it was a corn dog.
God, I hope Cruz keeps on doing this for about 20 years!
