Nonetheless, words cannot adequately express my disappointment in your statement starting this thread. If I have followed your lead here and then you do a 180, I cannot follow and retain my own integrity. That, like my undying resistance to Mittler, is not a difficult decision at all. We ought not embarrass and humiliate ourselves by imagining that we would be able to hold "Mittler's feet to the fire" in the event that he happens to buy the election as he bought the nomination. He is hell bent on taking control and on paying off the corruptocrats who financed him. Given the chance, Mittler will appoint an endless series of John Paul Stevens and David Swish Souter types to the judiciary. There will be no end to the 40-year Holocaust of the babies or to "gay" everything or to gun grabbing or to feckless foreign policy or to taking money from what liberals regard as the Pentagon piggy bank for leftist causes.
The brainless wing of the Senate GOP (which, though dwindling, is still most of them) will rubber stamp as many John Paul Stevens and David Swish Souter types of judges as a President Mittler cares to appoint (each and every appointment he makes) because Republicans are monarchists at heart and will support "our nominees" for any and all judiciary posts.
Kazan's post to which I am responding perfectly captures the smug attitude of the moneyed GOP ruling class types and the sorry state that conservatives to which conservatives will descend if we are measurably found to have voted for Mittler. We shall have earned contempt from every enemy we have ever had and from our wiser friends.
Four years from now, when the Demonrats nominate yet another babykilling, gun grabbing, rump-ranger supporting AntiChrist for POTUS and the GOP-E does precisely the same (whether Mittler or anyone else of similar stripe), we will be no better off and we will again hear that unless we vote Republican, the Demonrat boogieman will get us. Conservatives keep on making the same mistakes while expecting different results which Einstein reportedly observed was the definition of insanity.
