when I was a senior in high school (1957) I was my county's representative to the Wisconsin governors conference on children and youth.

The topic of my speech was basically that society would recieve the level of gang activity that they would tolerate. My advice was to accept a ZERO level of this nonsense and you would experience very little of it.

Over many years, and being a youth services officer in the Indiana Department of Corrections, I have been proven correct time after time.

These "gang members" are useless individuals without their so called Homies, Bro's, whatever. There should be no tolerance whatsoever when they are suspected or accused of a crime.

As individuals, these idiots are basically harmless "tough guys" but in their GANGS, they can be more than troublesome. When, someday, parental control returns, these useless pieces of human debris could actually be made to understand that their role in life is not to steal, harm, terrorize, but to earn, assist, donate, volunteer, whatever. Until we stop cranking out babies from unwed, uncommitted parents, we will not solve this problem.

I lived in Salinas back in the early-mid 60’s.What a neat little city. Wasn’t majority hispanic yet. There was very little crime. You could say the same for Watsonville.

This used to be a good country.
