LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - A former standout for the University of Nebraska's women's basketball team will be charged with lying to police for reporting that three masked men broke into her home last month, carved anti-gay slurs into her and tried to set her house on fire, a prosecutor said Tuesday.
Charlie Rogers, 33, who ranks second in career blocked shots for the Cornhuskers, told police the men broke into her Lincoln house July 22 and attacked her.

I knew it weeks ago when I first posted the story, and so did many FReepers. It was hinky from the get-go. She ought to be horse-whipped after all the campus candle-lit vigils and PayPal donations. I am sick of gays getting away with these things; I’ve lost count of the anti-gay hate crimes in the past few years which turned out to be hoaxes.
so in essence, she engaged in a criminal conspiracy to slur those who’s politics she disagreed with.
When will SHE be charged with a series of hate crimes?
Everyone knew this. I wonder how the softhearted folks who rallied around her and held vigils and all feel about this now. Like idiots, I hope.

Weeks ago, I had suggested that the FBI would probably check local stores’ surveillance cameras, to see if she had been caught purchasing things such as spray paint, duct tape, etc. In the Arrest Warrant pdf they found she had been to a local hardware store and purchased the items. Bingo. ;-)

Damned right. It’s about time they made an example of these hoaxers. That gay guy who recently had vigils held for him when he was viciously attacked outside a gay bar turned out to be hoaxing, and I can think of at least 4 others, plus this one. So much for hate crime laws. Just has these shameless liars crawling out of the woodwork to collect.
