President Barack Obama's reelection campaign unveiled "Rabbis for Obama"—a group of more than 600 rabbis from across the country—at a time when Republicans are hoping to erode the Democrat's wide lead among Jewish voters.

"Their ringing endorsement of President Obama speaks volumes about the president's deep commitment to the security of the state of Israel and his dedication to a policy agenda that represents the values of the overwhelming majority of the American Jewish community," Ira Forman, the campaign's Jewish Outreach Director, said in a statement.

The announcement came with a state-by-state list of the rabbis backing Obama, who leads Romney 68 percent to 25 percent among Jewish voters according to a recent Gallup poll.

Obama has lost 8-9 points among Jews.

That's a low estimate estimate. By Election Day, most likely more.

Only place that could matter is Florida if the race is razor thin.

The same could be said for Pennsylvania, Ohio, Nevada, and a few others. Chances are, though, that Romney will do well enough nationally that it won't be the decisive factor anywhere.

Good grief, just because they are Jews should not make them immune to analyzing what their bell curve looks like and what they, as a group, are doing to this country.

Jews are one of the most intellectually astute groups (don’t you like the word now) in our society yet they have seemed to have completely forgotten what socialism/communism has done to them in the past.

Your objection to the term group is as weak as any race card.

Almost everyone on this forum uses the term group and I see no reason, just because they are Jewish to exclude them from the analysis.

We see post after post regarding Hispanics, blacks, Catholics, Muslims, Amish, Gays (SSAD really) etc and I don’t see you or any of the PC police objecting to such group or bell curve analysis.

Maybe, your time might be better spent finding out why a group which was almost wiped from the face of the earth by a socialist government would work in such large numbers to undermine the USA and vote for socialists in such great numbers.

AMAZING, I can use irrefutable facts on the FreeRepublic yet be attacked for using the word group.

Well if we are going to change things it makes no sense to address 1 individual but we should be focused on large groups voting against us, and Israel and looking at what can be done about this. Ignoring the magnitude because it might offend the 22% of that GROUP seems stupid. Maybe that 22% should get a little more vocal against the other 78% and not those of us who believe the USA should remain the world’s strongest supporter of Israel. No you choose to attack my choice of words as if it were the VP and his Chains comment.

Sorry we do not have the time for PC niceties when we are so close to another 4 years of communism and the 100% certainly that this Jew hater in the WH will make sure the Cloward & Piven strategy of collapsing the USA is assured. He has already got us all so close to collapse given the debt we are facing so, NO I will not stop using GROUP when as a group they are constantly voting against us, the founders and everything which at one time made us the leader of the free world.

it’s not a low estimate

it is exactly the difference between 2008 exit polls and this one for Jewish voters

Jews are 3.4% of Florida and 2.8 percent of Nevada...the only two states “in play” with sizable numbers...though still quite small

a 9 point swing in Florida would only be .3% of the vote...or one third of one percent of total votes in race counted

that is indeed tiny and would only matter in a 2000 style replay

so to me the Jewish vote only matters as something to talk about for the hell of it or this steady need we have hear to hope Jews will come around one day...if not for America then Israel...which is kinda odd if you think about it

would folks wish me to “come around” over concerns about Scotland or England?

what does matter about Jews is not their vote but rather their influence in our culture and politics especially the media and entertainment complex where they have huge huge influence way beyond their numbers...now if they had a huge swing that could mean something big

but that ain’t happening

When 78% vote for a Marxist they are traitors and if you support them you are in the same group.

Assuming that the 78% figure is accurate (and it is in the right ball park), that still leaves 22% who voted for someone else (presumably McCain) - and I know for sure that the 22% includes me, my wife, my parents and one of my brothers (and the other one won't vote for Obama this time around). In short, you lump in ALL members of a highly diverse group with the majority of its members, which is rather stupid of you, regardless of your IQ. Besides, I thought that Conservatives prided themselves on protecting individual rights and liberties, not on treating people as part of some collective like the Leftists. It is high time that you recognize that you made an incorrect statement, apologize for it and move on. Believe me, we ALL make mistakes - but the key is learning from them and avoiding a repeat.

FYI, I have a brother who lives in Israel. He reports that there is a concerted effort among the Orthodox community (to which virtually all Americans living there belong) to register people to vote AGAINST Obama. He and his 2 oldest sons will be voting for Romney.

To make a blanket statement that "Jews hate this country and the founders" is insane. Jews have served honorably in every war the United States has fought, including the Revolution.

Here, here!! I agree 100%. If you're so smart, use that great mind of yours to distinguish between 2 groups of people that think on an entirely different wavelength, and who act on those thoughts - but who happen to share a heritage. Sharing a heritage only lumps those people together for purposes of discussing that heritage, and NOTHING else.

I assume that you are a decent and thoughtful person. Such people share as a characteristic some humility and the ability to learn from mistakes. You, like Akin in MO, made a mistake - and he has backed off from his mistaken words and offered an apology. Maybe you should seriously consider doing the same.

I agree with your analysis. I’m in San Antonio, and the only rabbi who signed on with the other Shitferbrains is a retired Reform “rabbi.” He doesn’t even have to answer to a congregation anymore - because most of the Jews in South Texas are solid Republicans/Conservatives.

It is SOOOO much better here than in New Jersey, and this is only one of the reasons why.

Funny and highly frustrating you tried a Saul Alinsky by chastising me for group think then immediately tried to group all Conservatives. Saul would be so proud of you.

Sorry, no group should be untouchable and if you had the intellect to read and comprehend everything I had posted on the subject you would wake up to the realization that I am just as concerned with Israel as most of you and praise the Jewish people at the same time I am confused with their actions in the voting booth.

And as I have stated in numerous posts I cannot fathom how such a known intelligent group can vote for their own demise as this mud-slime president will not stand behind Israel.

However, because nothing can ever be said against what large numbers of Jews are doing you would rather focus your deceptive charges towards me than the 78% who voted for a Marxist.

So continue to focus on one lone person, me, who dares to point out the emperor has no clothes rather than turning to your fellow Jews and asking them “WTF are you thinking”.

I have grown tired of defending the obvious to those who sole goal seems to suppress, insult anyone who dares use REAL numbers to point out a grave problem to the USA.

Maybe the 22% of you might be able to sway the 78% who love Marxism more than the USA or Israel.

Or, continue to go after the single individual who dares to tell the truth because the truth offends you. The all too easily offended seem to be doing quite a bit of damage to this country.

At what percentage are you willing to admit there is a serious problem? 75,80, 90 or is the 98% of blacks voting for a Marxist not a problem in your mind?

My final word on this subject is, I am glad some of you seem to be in the 22% who love this country as designed and founded and I would ask you spend at least as much time as you have here to again ask fellow Jews, WTF are you thinking.

Accepting the 22% number for the sake of argument (it's really closer to 30%), I'll agree with you there. If you've been following the posts by myself and other Jewish FReepers, you will see that we are doing just as you suggest.

I do this all the time. Sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn't - but I'll never stop trying.

I'm glad that you're both conservative and pro-Israel. My objection to your words is that you are lumping the 22% in with the 78%, by saying "the Jews" or "the group." Believe me, I not only understand your frustration with the 78%, I live with it every day because of the idiocy of family and many acquaintances (I simply cannot be a real friend to any collectivist, no matter their other qualities). I think that your intentions are good, but your language simply needs some fine-tuning. That is all, I have nothing else to say on the subject.

a 9 point swing in Florida would only be .3% of the vote...or one third of one percent of total votes in race counted

You neglected two factors in your calculations: (1) A 9 point swing is actually an 18 point swing in the gap between Zero and his challenger, since Zero goes down by 9 and the GOP gains 9. (2) If Jews are 3.4% of Florida, they are probably more like 5% of the total vote, because (A) they are older on average and there are proportionally fewer youngsters not eligible to vote and (B) eligible Jews vote traditionally in disproportionately higher percentages than the general population.

So you might be talking about closer to a full percentage point swing in the difference between the candidates.

And please, don't take those 2008 exit polls as if they were given to us by G-d. They are the product of left-leaning polling organizations and no one has yet to explain the details of their methods in arriving at their numbers.

Agreed, if Jews believe that Obama is a better friend to them, then its little wonder they have faced such persecution throughout history. Its like a battered woman who keeps running back to the guy who puts them in the hospital.

With people like Wasserman Schultz and all the lies she spews no wonder they follow Obama.

Puh-leeze! Don't think that Wasserman Schultz is a plus for the 'Rats in dealing with Jewish voters - or any voters, for that matter. Everyone but the ignorant can tell that she's got a few screws loose upstairs.

“I have absolutely zero against Jews and Blacks, but their blind support of the democratic party is maddening enough to turn a nice guy into a racist.”

Lots of whites vote for Obama. What does it turn you into?

I am Jewish and I confirm what you just have written. Not ONE of my Jewish friends and family who voted for Obama last time will repeat that mistake.

Two reasons: Israel and healthcare. There is not one Doctor I know who is for Obama.

There is nothing “conservative” about the Masorti movement. They are the retarded wing of the Reform movement, running 5 to 20 years late on each issue.

I guess every group other than white protestant males without graduate school degrees are all part of a conspircy against the US and Constitution, huh?

American Jews tend to vote like their white urban neighbors. But we are not a single group. There are many groups of Jews with different histories and outlooks. And the Conservative movement was fundamentally formed by Jews. Modern/Fusion Conservatism was created by Frank Meyer, Frank Chodorov, and William F Buckley Jr. Do you want to guess what Chodorov and Meyer had in common other than the name "Frank?" Half of the major conservative talk radio people are Jewish. As for libertarians, have you heard of Murray Rothbard, Ludwig von Mises, and Ayn Rand?

Most Jewish Democrat-leaning voters I have spoken with have no idea how radical Obama is. They don't watch Fox News or listen to talk radio. To do so would break a taboo. They may hae degrees, but they are willfully ignorant, just like most American voters of all backgrounds!
