Rogers was arrested Tuesday, police said.
In a news release, police cited DNA and pathologists' examinations that did not substantiate Rogers' original statements...
"These were serious allegations that garnered national attention and spread fear among local citizens," the police statement said. "A great deal of time and resources were spent investigating Charlie Rogers' claims in hopes of identifying and arresting the three suspects in this case."

If found guilty, a significant prison sentence would be warranted. For false accusers, a significant jail term handed to an innocent person is the desired result and ultimate personal vindication.

I wish this would be the last one, but I kind of doubt it. Time will pass, and another deranged person will try some stunt like this one. They never learn. The signs that it’s a hoax will be obvious, but the usual gang of idiots will believe the “victim”’s story. The “victim” will be found out to have lied and faked everything. Again there will be statements by leaders of these aggrieved groups claiming that even though the story was fake, the problem is real. Nothing ever changes.

The only way to stop this stuff is to make the penalty for faking these crimes carry the same sentence as what someone who actually committed the crime would be subject to.
