Atheists' road signs attack faiths of Romney, Obama ahead of Democratic convention
Fox News ^ | August 22, 2012 | Mary Quinn O'Connor

Just as the city of Charlotte, N.C., gears up to host the Democratic National Convention, an atheist group is mounting a billboard campaign attacking the religious faiths of President Obama and GOP challenger Mitt Romney.

The signs, paid for by American Atheists Incorporated (AAI) and appearing along keylocal highways, include messages such as: "Christianity: Sadistic God, Useless Savior" and "Mormonism: Magic Underwear, Baptizes Dead People, Big Money, Big Bigotry." AAI President David Silverman told FoxNews.com the signs are aimed at keeping religion and politics separate as the convention gets under way Sept. 3.

Other faiths, including Judaism and Islam, were spared because the billboards are designed to attack GOP nominee Mitt Romney, a Mormon, and President Obama, a Christian, according to AAI. They will remain up for a month, and cost Silverman's group $15,000.

"We chose Christianity and Mormonism for these billboards because those are the religious faiths of the two presumed candidates for president," said Amanda Knief, managing director for American Atheists "The president of the United States is in a position to make life-changing decisions for all Americans. We believe it is perfectly reasonable to ask whether each candidate will choose to follow his religious faith or the U.S. Constitution when making those decisions."

But the ads have proved to be offensive to some.

More Liberal coarse sordiness.

I guess this is just THEIR way of expressing their ‘tolerance’ for diversity!

When atheists go after muslims, I concern myself with what an atheist thinks.

I like it. People here will associate the billboards with Democrats, just as they’ll associate the nuisance and traffic and noise and filth with Democrats, and fewer will vote for Democrats.

Ah, interesting sign. The Canadian who was adopted by the Kenyans to be their village idiot, who is in reality an Indonesian prince by adoption, now serving as the democrats lastest enabling lying fraud criminal black person. And he isn’t anything but a Canadian who is getting away with massive fraud as the ultimate in affirmative action madness.

The slur “Magic Underwear” to me anyways after I have learned more about mormonism is aking to calling a kippah a “Magic Beanie” or a Rosary a “Magic Necklace”...

But they dare not say those things because then we would all realize the atheists are bigots.

Sounds like hate crimes to me.

When Atheists push their beliefs on others and try to convert God fearing people to their beliefs then Atheism has become a religion.

The Atheists who practice this are soul less fools who are headed down the path to darkness. They are just to damn stupid to see it because they don’t believe in evil or good.

Sickness has rotted their minds.

or a Rosary a “Magic Necklace”...

Catholics to not wear Rosaries around the neck.

Typically they are carried in a case in the pocket or purse.

Eh, let 'em waste their money. I actually find those signs pretty amusing. (Yeah, we're atheists! We don't believe in life after death, so we don't believe anything you do in this life has any lasting impact. Therefore, we're going to waste our money trying to convert you!)

How utterly stupid.

My tagline says it, but I’ll say it here: Science puts you on the moon, atheism puts you in the gulag.

Atheism has killed more people in one century than all religions have in the previous 59.

Precisely.

It would be terrific fun to join an atheist group, and suborn their leadership into protesting at mosques.

We are missing an opportunity here.

Freedom of speech people. You may not agree with it but it is their right and we must uphold that belief or we are no better than they are. As for the Tampa company that wouldn't use the billboards, it is also their right NOT allow this atheist group to purchase the site, not bigotry.

An even more singular strategic misstep on our part is failure to actively incite Muslim attention and reactionary offense against the Left.

What stops us from false flag operations here? If there is a rally of collectivists on an issue that we oppose, why tpare we not organizing Muslims to counterprotest? It is a simple matter to print flyers and post them.

Set the dogs against each other. The resulting violence will reduce the political viability of their respective messages; distract from interference with our work; and provide ample Schadenfreude to accompany the public spectacle.

Every patriot should ensure that the local mosque leadership is prodded into responsive street theater. I have low confidence in the civil conduct of our ideological adversaries. We are abrogating our capacity to drive the spear by abandoning opportunities presented.

“AAI President David Silverman told FoxNews.com the signs are aimed at keeping religion and politics separate as the convention gets under way Sept. 3.”

Oh, THAT’s what the idea was! Silly me, I thought it was just to intentionally and crudely insult people of faith.

Ah, know. mormonism teaches that the undergarments are in fact magic.
When have Rosary beads and/or Yamakas been considered magic?
