That is precisely the problem.
I think there are a lot of Akin supporters who would be much more willing to accept a replacement if we could be absolutely sure the alternative would be a solid pro-life, pro-military, social issues conservative.
Akin voters voted for Akin for a reason.
I have nothing personal against the Republican state committee, but let's be honest -- recent Republican leadership stances, as well as the nomination of Romney with strong establishment GOP support, have not helped build trust by social conservatives in the Republican leadership.
