All party associations are compromises. However one chooses to define them does not make them thralls. Santorum was a Senator, he had to vote for some things he didn't want to get others that he wanted more. By your definition, simple GOP membership therefore qualifies for being a RINO.

Umm, yeah... it's getting to be that way.
It's a shame. Akin has an EXCELLENT record. I really believe in all that he stands for. Problem is, he's become politically toxic.
He's sort of like the Vietnam War.
We were winning the war
But we lost it politically.
That's where we are with Akin.
Unfortunately, the enemy is not on the other side of the world this time. The commies are in our own country and they are bringing us down. So, withdrawal is not an option and neither is defeat.
We need to sacrifice Akin for someone who can win it for us.
That's my opinion. Ultimately it's up to the people of Missouri.
