The entire Republican Party, including the grassroots, has basically told Akin to go to hell, so I doubt it will spread over into any other races. That’s one silver lining at least.

Which is, I’m betting, their intention all along. I really don’t think the Akin fiasco was a mere gaffe.

Rush seems to think Akin is a ‘good guy’. I’m not sure that’s true. And it points to a recurring issue/question that, as a conservative, I’ve had about many GOPers. Is Akin really that stupid? If so, he doesn’t belong in office anyway. Certainly not on the GOP ticket. If not, he’s a traitor to the right.

Either way, it’s not good for our efforts to oust Obama this November and gain control back in government. I’m thinking that instead of having one big October surprise, we’ll be seeing a lot of little mini-surprises (like this one) between now and then.
