Al Franken’s ‘New York City Problem’

In national politics, having New York City in your past can be just as bad as having a closetful of dead tranny hookers. That's what some people think, anyway. Today's Sun declares that Al Franken, who is having some problems with his senatorial campaign in Minnesota, is "doomed by his own New York past." The former SNL writer and Air America host has been taking some heat over in the heartland for neglecting to pay some taxes and benefits to his employees as well as for some raunchy jokes he's made in the past, such as this lovely bit he was working on in the writer's room at SNL, as recorded in a 1995 feature in New York .

Franken: "And, 'I give the pills to Lesley Stahl. Then, when Lesley's passed out, I take her to the closet and rape her.' Or, 'That's why you never see Lesley until February.' Or, 'When she passes out, I put her in various positions and take pictures of her.'"

Franken has since apologized and admitted the joke was offensive. Priscilla Lord Faris, a former supporter turned opponent, sums up Franken's problem thusly: "We kind of call it the New York City problem," she said. Please. Franken doesn't have a New York City problem; he just has the same problem Giuliani had, which is that he's not very funny. What's weird is that you would think in politics, that would be a good thing.

Bill Clinton forcably raped Juanita Brodderick, told her to put some ice on her swollen lip where he bit here to keep her quiet during the ordeal.

And was elected President twice, by handy margins thanks to the indifference and collusion of the LSM.

Every time a Democrat brings up the name Akin, the Republicans should shout back Juanita Brodderick.

The Obama administration let Roman Polanski walk but Whoopi Goldberg defended it saying that wasn’t legitimate rape rape.

There is absolutely no comparison. Akin mentioned the word “rape” once - and apologized for the incorrect “speech”, while Bubba Klintoon was accused of rape and lost his law license. One made a speech and one is the RAPIST.

Were the democrats unfair to Howard Dean for his famous scream?

Ah Franken. The one and only diapered senator strikes yet again.

Akin’s words were worse than a crime, they were a blunder. Every time an interviewer brings up the words abortion or rape with a Republican, they should answer, “Unemployment is 8.3% and going up, 16 million workers have given up and dropped out of the work force, or the numbers would be worse. We need to grow the economy to provide opportunities for young people. Next question.”

Why take the bait?

Liz Warren is running ads using Akin’s words against Scott Brown. If Akin even so much as breathes a little life into the corpse that should be Warren’s Senatorial hopes, it’s an unforced error. Akin is a DUNCE. Even if his bizarre biological theories are true, what possible advantage is there in bringing it up?

I am not interested in the validity of his claims: by making it harder to elect pro-life candidates, he is giving the baby-killers more opportunities to appoint judges, make policy and write laws.
