Why? We are stuck with Akin so might as well try to win. If Romney and the other establishment types would learn to STFU, it would have been much easier to win and all this would have been forgotten by the time the hurricane is a few days out. It wasn’t the dems that turned this into a national circus.

Like the Dems would ever let this golden goose fade away.

You are delusional.

The Dems are already trying to link R/R to Akin at the hip. This is after they both rebuked Akin’s statement.

OUR COUNTRY IS AT STAKE, NOT THE PRIDE OF AKIN AND/OR HUCK.

I happen to agree with you. This whole affair is a good example of how knee jerk responses can often be wrong, due to the shallow amount of thinking before making a judgement. I have never liked or admired Huckabee, but in this situation, he is correct. The GOP acted hastily, and stupidly.

Before you tell everyone to "STFU," maybe you should education yourself. Akin has it within his power to quit before Sept 25 so the state party committee can appoint a replacement. The only penalty is the cost to reprint ballots.

The ones who need to STFU is Mr. Akin and Huckabee.

Akin's gone from 11 points ahead to 10 points down. That's on HIM, not Romney, not the establishment, not Sarah Palin or anyone else calling for Akin to be a man, be a leader, accept full responsibility and step aside for the good of his cause rather than dig in for his ego.

Agreed. But, in this day and age, emotions trump logic.

Regardless, if not for the ill-conceived 17th Amendment and its unintended consequences, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

In the end run, if the Republican Party elite would keep their mouth shut, those who would have supported AKin anyway, will end up at the polls voting for him. He could still win.

A good point indeed. Akin is a true conservative and has proven reliable but so many liberals rinos eat their own and throw conservatives under the bus whenever they can. It is why I lest the other liberal party to become an independent conservative.
