Futhermore, after Akin decided to stay, Levin on his radio show told the RNC Chairman Reince Priebus to get behind him to defeat McCaskill. Priebus balked at the suggestion but gave the impression when this thing settles down and Akin happens to stay in the race, they might consider sending RNC support.

Unlike most of you I live in Missouri and can vote in the upcoming election. I voted for Steelman. I knew very little about Akin. I was welling to give him a look , as I would never vote for a Dem. What Akin said and how he handled the firestorm afterward turned me off to voting for him. The people of Missouri were ready to send McCaskill home. Now most likely she will have an easy time in the election. Akin appears to be in it just for himself and not thinking about the big picture. The GOP had every right to ask what they did. Things like what happened are just a fact of life. We in Missouri will most likely have to wait six more years to have a crack at replacing our Senator.
