There is a certain brand of conservatives who take pride in being pure and losing elections. This is so much more satisfying to them than actually winning elections and taking responsibility for governing.

Some of these purists are great friends of the left and will even get their grudging praise in return for their help in making conservative governance less likely.

There is a certain brand of “Republican” who takes pride in considering any normal conservative to be a “purist,” and wants us all to vote for progressives or socialist RINOs like Mitt Romney to appeal to the Dem voters.
