The political furor involving Rep. Todd Akin of Missouri took a nasty turn on Thursday, as Akin's congressional spokesman confirmed that there had been a variety of threats leveled against the Republican lawmaker and his staff.
This was the statement put out by Akin's spokesman Steve Taylor:
“I can verify that the Capitol police are working with an outside law enforcement agency regarding threatening contact with our official office. The office of Congressman Akin has received threats of rape of his official staff, family and the Congressman himself along with suggestions that individuals should die.”
No other details were immediately made public on where the threats had come from, or if anyone was under specific investigation. The story was first reported by a St. Louis television station, KMOV-TV.

If anyone thinks this sort of crap will cause Akin to resign, dream on. He is nothing if not stubborn, obstinate, and unwavering in his position. He is after all, PCA.
OMG, it’s come to this? The Akin campaign is now trying to claim VICTIM status? The next thing you know they’ll come out and have Sandra Fluke as one of their spokespersons.
Is this done by dems or gop? Aren’t they the same thing now?
I do believe I heard on the radio that one of these threats had stated that “we are going to legitimately rape your wife” to Mr. Akin. We are dealing with some sick people and our side has done nothing but encourage this outrageous response by not putting a lid on how far the lefty media can distort this for political gain. The knee-jerk rejection from most people really do not understand what really happened.
We have the Democratic Media Machine running headlines that Akin said victims of legitimate rape can not get pregnant. LIE!
We have this same propaganda stating that Akin wants to pass a law to ban abortion for anyone that has been raped.
All we hear from our side is he is an idiot he needs to get out, blah. No one has any f’ing balls but Akin.
I don't think they are claiming anything. I think the threats are real. Just read and feel the vitriol oozing from many of the posts on these threads.
We are just weak and pathetic and have a lot of fellows that will trip over themselves to run and apologize to the godless left for not being P.C. enough and be the first to cry out that our party has Idiots. So sorry smooch. Visions of McStain...

Akin is an engineer and not an idiot. He just isn’t good looking or have a lot of hair, or the morals of most politicians.
All he did was make known what he understood to be true.

Of course they are, otherwise the campaign would've had no comment. His campaign wants sympathy now. It's all about generating campaign dollars.

“Legitimate” Rape victim says:
“I was forcibly raped in 2001. It happened while I was ovulating. I was scared to death that I would become pregnant. When I asked the physician what my chances of being pregnant, he handed me a AMA journal that highlighted a study done in 1999. That study was done concerning all the reported rape cases in Minnesota. Not a single case resulted in a pregnancy. I also did not get pregnant, and thankfully I didn’t get an STD either.
I now work in a rape recovery center in a major city. I have met with women who claim to have gotten pregnant while raped. These women tend to be 16 or 17 year old girls with their parents standing over them. When I get them alone and they open up, all of them said the sex was consensual. They were going through the motions because they didn’t want to upset their parents. In the last 6 years, I have never seen a true rape case result in pregnancy.”
