If “all politics is local politics,” it must be said: This is a bad week to be a Missourian.
No, I don’t live in Missouri. But I’m a conservative and a pro-life advocate, so thanks to Rep. W. Todd Akin, I must necessarily worry about the U.S. Senate race in Missouri, a contest that should have been an easy win for my side.
Mr. Akin thrust himself into the Hall of Fame of 21st Century Political Stupidity, an incredible accomplishment in the age of Anthony “Weinergate” Weiner, then-South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford’s rendezvous with a lover in Argentina, and anything uttered by Vice President Joseph R. Biden.
By using the words “legitimate” and “rape” in a dependent clause, and by opining that pregnancy is less likely to occur under traumatic circumstances because “the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down,” Mr. Akin turned himself into a lightning rod of controversy...

Foley was an issue because of the GOP leadership attempts to cover up for him. The Dems linked that to the other 10 or so corrupt incompetent GOP house member the leadership was covering up for. The drunk, the wife beater, the crooks etc. It was the perception of incompetence and corruption in the GOP House leadership that sunk them in 2006.
Kind of like Dukakis riding in the tank moment.

It would appear that you haven’t been watching the cable new shows or reading the newspapers. Akin has proven to be a gift for the media/democrats that just keeps on giving. He seems to be the only one oblivious to that fact.
I’m glad the repubs are playing hardball and taking Akins out at the knees. We’re on a roll with Ryan ...about to take the presidency, the senate, the house and the supremes.
Make a friggin example out of him so any repub who even THINKS of breaking goofy and fing this up knows whats in store.
Akin is a brilliant marine and American. HE WILL WIN and shut these weak republicrats up!! He was totally correct about rape and if he was not correct — do we then kill the innocent child? Is that what these weak minded want?
What Akin did wasn’t half a stupid as the numerous things done by Romney and he’s hasn’t shown himself to be nearly as selfish as Romney. So why should we pile on Akin and fight to the death to elect Romney?
It is utterly pathetic how easily the GOP/Conservative movement falls for these Democrat Propaganda machine tactics of diversion and distraction

Romney does not represent the pro-life movement. Akin does and has done damage to that movement.
Selfish GOPe bringing Akin down with them.
There is no longer any question; the GOPe would rather bring the whole country down rather than let conservatives win.
Doesn’t matter if he’s right. Must always focus only on what happens or is likely to happen. In this case must focus on pursuing the course of action that results in the highest probability of producing the desired outcome.
There is a very real chance Akin could now lose based on his comment. Not sure how anyone could argue that Steelman would have a significantly higher probability of winning than Akin. The Rasmussen poll demonstrates that truth. He therefore has to go and he should be able to see that.
Romney is not a conservative. Akin is a conservative and represents our movement which he now is hurting.
Don’t group Rush in your insanity club; he got smart today.
Sad to see Palin floundering with the idiots.
Support your candidate or lose it all. Akin can win, but the GOP likely cannot.
