Selfish Akin bringing GOP down with him

If “all politics is local politics,” it must be said: This is a bad week to be a Missourian.

No, I don’t live in Missouri. But I’m a conservative and a pro-life advocate, so thanks to Rep. W. Todd Akin, I must necessarily worry about the U.S. Senate race in Missouri, a contest that should have been an easy win for my side.

Mr. Akin thrust himself into the Hall of Fame of 21st Century Political Stupidity, an incredible accomplishment in the age of Anthony “Weinergate” Weiner, then-South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford’s rendezvous with a lover in Argentina, and anything uttered by Vice President Joseph R. Biden.

By using the words “legitimate” and “rape” in a dependent clause, and by opining that pregnancy is less likely to occur under traumatic circumstances because “the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down,” Mr. Akin turned himself into a lightning rod of controversy...

These anti-Akin threads are an embarrassment.

There is no longer any question; the GOPe would rather bring the whole country down rather than let conservatives win.

Umm, excuse me but the writer of this article is a conservative who is part of the pro-life movement.

Furthermore, Sarah Palin is not part of the GOPe.

Let's make it easy. Show me the list of NON-GOPe politicians who DO stand behind Akin. Let's see that list (minus the democrats).

You sit there and claim that ONLY the GOPe is against Akin yet the only supporters I know are the democrats. Provide us with the list of NON-GOPe politicians standing behind Akin... I'm waiting....

.
Yes Prozac would be better than the Viagra that they are stuffing up the wrong hole over Akin.

“There is a very real chance Akin could now lose based on his comment.” Agree with all my heart. Rasmussen is a political hack,in my opinion, paid by the Rockefeller wing of the Republicrats. He hasn’t been close in 20 years!! He said Mc Amnesty would win!!! What a belly laughing joke he is. Akin will WIN!!!!I guess you want him to lose so you can rationalize the killing of the children of “rape” Right?

Akin will win this if the GOPe idiots go back to their spin-the-bottle game.

What do you know about Marines that Senator Akin doesn’t know? Do they justify the killing of babies because mommy does’nt want them? Is that the Marine that you know?

This whole issue has nothing to do with the GOPe, nothing to do with Conservatives vs RINOs. You cannot even provide a list of NON-RINO. NON-GOPe politicians standing behind this man.

If this were GOPe vs Conservatives you would have quite a list of politicians on our side in support of Akin. You have not provided any names because you know the only names you can supply have a big D next to the names.

To claim that this is an issue of the GOPe or anybody vs us (we conservatives) is an insult to us and our movement.

It seems you got my point about Marines, noob. Marine is always capitalized.

P.S. Akin isn't a Senator! And don't even try to go the route of Marines being baby killers, in any scenario.

Wow -- one man using the word "legitimate" bringing down the whole party. Who would have thought he had that much power.

I guess then if the party is successful in November then he will also get credit for raising it up from the ashes -- right???

The majority of Tea Party members want Akin out.

Ohhh -- so you polled them -- when was that???

Exactly! But the downside is that if Akin loses that seat and / or Romney loses Missouri and the general election we will no longer be able to blame the GOP Establishment and the RINOs for the results of that defeat. By standing behind Akin (instead of quickly replacing him) he bought ownership of either a victory or the defeat.

The latter is unfortunate. At least before we was able to tell the RINOs "we told you so". That's out the window now.

Akin has not only hurt the pro-life movement but the conservative movement as well.

Follow the money... it goes back to the democrats.

Aren’t you glad that this whole Akin thing came along? Now you have something else (keeping Akin on the ballot) to obsess on rather than your relentless “I’m not voting for President because Romney is on the ticket” campaign you’ve engaged in since signing up on FreeRepublic on 6/15/12.

Address the point. Do you think marines want to kill babies because mommy wants to kill the baby?

they sure are this moron allegedly apologized, and his freeper defenders now reiterate his original statements and cite pseudoscience to defend it. I guess they think the apology was unneeded.

legitimate was the lesser issue, it was the magic uterus that put him over the edge as well as exposing a cultic belief not known to the mainstream.
