Really? Really? Come back here on November 7 after Akins historic landslide defeat and lecture us. Tell us then how refreshing and admirable Akin is.
Sure no problem with that and you do the same if he wins, ok?
Also a little thought to tide you over, a week in the political world can be a lifetime. Things can change rapidly as we have seen over the last fifty or so years. What’s in the news today is completely overwhelmed by something else next week.

Working Man,
If I was a Missouri resident and Akin was still on the ballot come November, I’d vote for him. And I think the same attitude would exist in 98% of the folks trying to encourage him to “come to his senses” and withdraw. But that will NOT be enough. He will still lose in a landslide. Akin and folks such as yourself can keep your heads in the sand and not believe that, but that is the reality.
I have the misfortune to live in Maryland. I still vote an almost (yes we get an occasional idiot Republican here also who I will not vote for — although I also don’t vote for his/her Democrat opponent) straight Republican ticket every election. I do that even though I know the folks I’m voting for stand absolutely no chance of winning.
But Missouri is not Maryland (at least not yet). There, conservative Republicans can actually win if they don’t self destruct as Akin has done.
So yes, if Akin stays in and wins in November, I’ll come back here and rejoice. Unfortunately that’s not going to happen. At this point it appears that Akin WILL stay in and Akin WILL LOSE. And that is very sad and completely unnecessary. A new conservative Republican Senator from Missouri could well be the difference between Republican leadership shifting from McConnell to a new CONSERVATIVE Senatorial coalition. A new conservative Republican Senator from Missouri could well be the difference between some conservative legislation passing and not failing. And, God forbid, a new conservative Republican Senator from Missouri could well be the difference between Harry Reid maintaining the Senate leadership or losing it to the Republicans.
Missouri deserves better than Akin on the ticket. Unfortunately I don’t think it is going to get it. I’m starting to accept this as destiny. At this time I just wish the Akin campaign would PLEASE STOP THE BARRAGE OF FUNDRAISING EMAILS they keep sending me. I get pissed off everytime I see a new one in my home email inbox.
