Akin needs to be gone by Labor Day, i.e., before the Democrat Convention, which now will be all about "The Party of Akin's War on Women."

If there is another poll or two next week that shows Akin down 10+ to McCaskill, i.e., regressing rather than making progress, I am HOPING that may finally get through to Akin.

This is NOT about some RINO "GOP-e" conspiracy against a pro-life social conservative. It's about not losing the election(s) because of one foot-in-mouth-disease candidate who gives the Dems exactly the ammo they want. There are several conservative, pro-life candidates here in Missouri who could take Akin's place quickly and mount a winning campaign against McCaskill--and take the ammo away from the Democrats nationally.

I voted for Akin. He is my congressman. I agree with his political views. But he is hurting the cause.

Ditto, Charles. He needs to be gone before the RAT convention to at least lessen this issue they are pushing.

Exactly. You can put in a QB who had lofty college stats, but if he throws a pick-six at critical moments in pivotal games, it becomes clear he's not your guy.

Akin is definitely hurting the cause, but he's unconcerned about the consequences. He thinks God wants him there.

I am a man. But I get the impression that Akin’s remarks about “legitimate rape” cut very deep to the core of the fear every woman takes with her every day she leaves her house. And abortion is peripheral to the issue.

Basically accusing women of lying about rape is one thing, but to basically claim they weren’t raped because they produced a child as a result of the sexual intercourse is something even my own mother would not countenance and she was a pretty tolerant women.

The attitude of a lot of women when they heard Akin’s comment: Screw you! You’re not getting my vote. You’re meaning the GOP.
