That’s a pretty easy one to knock down as well. Freedom means the freedom to care for others, and millions avail themselves of that freedom. Compulsory compassion is a heinous contradiction that has literally destroyed parts of our culture. Rand simply threw the baby (altruism) out with the bathwater (egalitarianism/Marx/liberalism), and that is to her discredit. I don’t see Paul Ryan doing that.
I think that mixes two different and separate issues entirely. You’re making “compassion” subordinate to “freedom” that way, the logical razor that distinguishes between ‘good’ and ‘bad’ compassion. That’s not the Gospel Message, which has “Love One Another” at it’s core.
