Akin scandal hands Missouri to Obama

If the Republican Party needed any more proof that Missouri Republican Senate candidate Rep. Todd Akin was poison to all GOP-ers, they've got it in a new Missouri presidential poll just published by Rasmussen Reports.

After consistently trailing Mitt Romney in Missouri, President Obama is now beating him. It's by just one point, 47 percent to 46 percent, but it represents a big change from Romney's 50 percent-46 percent lead he had a month ago. Worse for the Republican: Romney has led in Missouri all year--until the Akin "legitimate rape" scandal.

The poll could be proof that the scandal has wounded Romney and Republicans and that the Democratic attacks on the Republican is causing voters to reassess Romney. Rasmussen revised his election projection for Missouri, moving it from "lean Romney" to "toss-up."

Just yesterday, he reported that Akin is 10 points behind embattled Democratic incumbent Sen. Claire McCaskill.

And he said that when???

Keep it up. You sound like a Democratic operative -- exaggerating ... exaggerating ... exaggerating.

He's done more for this country than you have.

I blame Gomer Huckleberry even more than I do Todd Aiken.

All of this is crap. People are voting their pocketbook. The whole nation has become numb to such gaffes as that after over 3 years of Joe Biden.

Over the top much?

You may think it's over the top for conservatives to have had the goal of electing true conservatives to control both Houses of Congress so that the RINO Romney cannot push forward any of his liberal agenda unopposed, but most conservatives think it only logical.

If anybody is over the top it's the group who feels that there's nothing suspicious with pro-abortion democrats funding Akin's campaign.

If Romney’s message is so fragile that he can lose based on one sentence by an obscure Senate candidate then we have much bigger problems.

Here’s an idea. How about the Republican establishment and now Consersative pundits SHUT UP. If Missouri conservatives want a new candidate, let them ask for one.

There is a scandal? What is the scandal about? Did he rape someone?

Even in the military, they teach you, when you're on a field campaign, don't go wandering off into minefields.

Akin did that.

Is he a doctor? No. Did his family have personal experience with rape? No. He's in an election that can, and should, be about the lousy economy and Obama's incompetence.

So what the hell is he doing talking about rape?!

Todd Akin might be a nice guy, but politically, he's an idiot. And now he's political poison - replace him or Claire gets re-elected - simple as that.

So you seriously believe the two are not related.

Ohh no -- I believe they are. But let's add the bashing he is taking from all the irrational people from DU operatives on conservative forums and fair weather conservatives to the mix -- and that is beyond his control -- but it is in your and their control.

First of all there are “non-legit” rapes....accusations.....i.e. Tawana Brawley.

Second....I suspect Akin is just like most men....he has no knowledge of how, what or why the female body works the way it does. If his wife or daughter did start to talk to him about that subject he probably shut them down with a “whoa, whoa..na na na, not listening....don’t want to know about all that!” And because he is clueless, he should just zip it. Instead, he, like a lot of men, have to keep talking so everybody thinks he’s so smart. Akin, I’m not exactly sure what you were trying to say, next time keep your mouth shut and appear intelligent instead of opening it and removing all doubt! Chaps my ass that now this is going to be used to it’s full advantage by the Democrats.

"Stupid voters are going to be the death of us though."

Amen brother! People who vote based on emotion are ignorant, moronic, and THE serious threat to our nation.

Akin scandal hands Missouri to Obama

LoL BS. It would be good if Obama thinks he has a chance and thereby spends his OBot cash in Missouri. It's a sink hole for Obama, but yes go for it Obama.

Recent voting over the last few years has Missourians largely leaning conservative, from their repudiation of Obamacare to right to carry.

O will take the two big urban zones(which are quickly de-populating due to murder and flight), but the wooded countryside and the burbs will counter them.

Fair weather conservatives? How about one issue conservatives? They do more harm to the cause than anyone.
These are not fair weather conservatives. I love how people in here fall back on the ‘you’re not a real conservative’ argument when their ideas have no merit.
He is costing us the seat and quite possibly the state. This has nothing to do with anything except he’s an idiot and unprepared for a larger stage.

For the elitist Neocons who populate the Weekly Standard to be throwing in the towel on Missouri indicates to me that the Republican elite smells defeat and are all ready looking for excuses and scapegoats.

Namby pamby hand wringing Chicken Littles who are public moaning and going woe is me what are we going to do about Todd Akin because little Todd threatens Humpty Dumpty and if Mittens fall we will never be able to put him back together again.

If Mittens be so weak to have his election chances squashed by a stupid political hack nobody like Todd Akins, then anyone with a brain would have to question the character and competency of the Mittens campaign instead of Todd Aiken who is doing what any political hack would do which is put himself above his party or the country.

Todd Aiken is simply a lifetime in office guy who ain't had a real job since 1988, and he is simply one senatorial candidate from Missouri which may be in the center of the country but is NOT the center of the political universe, although the Democrats would like to make Todd Aiken the center of the political universe and screaming hysterical loons like Crazy Annie Coulter and Sean Hannity, the Weekly Standard, and Team Mittens have certainly aided and abetted the Dems in a making Aiken a media mountain out of a Missouri molehill.

Spoken like a stealth democrat operative.

It’s “democrat operative” to anyone other than a democrat who finds it insulting.

There is nothing “Democratic” about your democrat party.

I agree. It’s a lot easier to say No Akin to a pollster in the middle of this brouhaha than it will be to pull the lever for Obama in November. I wouldn’t even be surprised to see Akin settle in and win his own race by the time the Left gets done hyperventilating.

Republicans will be back in the fold within a week or two. Meanwhile, the Left has succeeded in finding yet another topic to harangue us with for a week straight, rather than having to talk Obama’s record over the past 3 1/2 years, and, as usual, the Right has been snookered by the ruse.
