“Think about John Kennedy’s famous ‘ask not’ lines here,” Schneck says. “For that generation of Catholics, it’s a recognition that government and civil society have a profoundly positive role to play.”

Robert George, a conservative Catholic and professor of Jurisprudence at Princeton University, says that generation is being supplanted by a younger generation that tends to be more conservative”

The John Kennedy generation of Catholics were pro-life.
It was they fatass nothing Teddy Kennedy that destroyed a generation of Catholics when he switched from being pro-life to pro-abortion - in a shameful attempt to get the female bra burders vote in the late 60s and 70s. There are videos on the internet showing Teddy Kennedy running as a pro-life candidate, then he sold his soul to the devil for a vote. The Kennedy generation that came after him said if uncle Teddy can be for baby murder it must be OK. The most influential American Catholic family of 20th Century are the reason that so many Catholics started voting for the party of death. But committed, Mass-going Catholics usually vote Republican. And that’s a good sign.

When I was young it was Catholics that were the face of the right to life movement.
In the 80s it shifted to the evangelicals.
Now after the exposure of the belief in the magic spemacide/uterus I wish Catholics would retake the mantle.

Already in the early ‘60s, the Kennedys were coming on board with the pro-choice types. Their teacher was Father Drinan. That there were lots of Father Drinans is the reason who so many Catholics abandoned the traditional teachings of the Church and took up liberalism.

. . .that government and civil society. . .

Notice the slippery use of language here: pretending that government and civil society are the same thing. Leftists, and only leftists, believe that. They say "we must help the less fortunate", to which a conservative Christian of any confession would agree, interpreting "we" as civil society -- people organized into families, parishes, volunteer organizations, charitable foundations, . . . -- but what the leftist means by that is "government using tax revenues must help the less fortunate."
