A 42-year-old man is dead after he allegedly forced his way into a Vancouver home early Saturday morning and was shot by a homeowner, according to the Clark County Sheriff's Office.
The homeowners were alerted by their dog barking sometime before 2:16 a.m. and realized somebody was in their home, according to Sgt. Kevin Allais. Law enforcement officers believe the man entered the home through an unsecured door. The homeowners then locked their bedroom door, according to Allais, and the intruder allegedly forced his way into the bedroom. The resident, armed with a handgun, shot and killed the intruder, Allais said.

Poor burglar...who’d’a’thunk an Oregon homeowner would be armed? What are the odds?
I just LOVE stories with HAPPY ENDINGS!
Vancouver OR? Not WA or BC?
I thought Vancouver was in Washington State!

How did the shooter from Vancouver get to te intruder's bedroom to shoot him? Was he mad at the guyy for breaking into his home in the first palce? Good thing it wasn't an elephant in his slippers.
It’s Vancouver, WASHINGTON....along the Oregon border
Thought so. I have kith and kin in the area.
A little clarity. First the man had been seen stumbling down the street and mumbling incoherently, and then he broke into the house. So I’m thinking drugs.
Vancouver, WA is at the other end of the I-5 bridge from Portland, OR, and is considered part of the greater Portland Metropolitan Area.
I am glad to hear a good ending to a burglar story, too.
Remember: Semi-wadcutters with no holes in the front do NOT jam up with clogged material, therefore, do NOT fail to function as some hollow point ammunition does. They are available in .38 special, .357 magnum, .41 magnum, .44 special/magnum, and .45 Long Colt.
So, that means the intruder is now an “alleged” corpse ?
I was thinking the same. I think that the homeowner kept his stash in the bedroom and the intruder knew it.
Between the time the burglar came through the window, and moment he was shot—who made the allegation that he was a burglar?
Thank you for the correction. This occurred in Washington state.
"Are you sure he wasn't there when you moved into the house?"
That’s a good doggie!
In that case the headline should be "Vancouver man allegedly shoots and kills alleged intruder in his bedroom".
I wouldn’t bet on it, because there have just been a surfeit of drug addled home invasions of late. A good hint, but even that is not conclusive, is that they have stripped off some of their clothes.
While the first response to such things is it’s a shame that they were shot just for being stoned, the truth is that if they are that stoned, they can be very dangerous.
Because the police noted that the decedent had been staggering about and mumbling incoherently, earlier, a simple drug test will determined how zonked he was.
And that’s not the homeowner’s fault.
Maybe NYPD should hire this guy as an instructor.
At least no bystanders were hit.
