Complaints cause atheist-funded billboards in North Carolina to come down

American Atheists and Adams Outdoor Advertising are reportedly removing two Charlotte billboards blasting Christianity and Mormonism following an outpouring of complaints and threats.

The Bradenton Herald report that the billboards, which targeted the faiths of President Barack Obama and Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney, went up two weeks ago and were intended to be displayed for the duration of the national conventions.

I wasn’t intending to imply that the implication was yours, that the “Christian” billboard was directed at Obama. That has been the case with every report that I’ve read upon the subject, but is clearly not accurate given the specific imagery used, though. It’s directed at Paul Ryan, not Obama. Their supposed nonpartisan claim falls very flat upon actually seeing the billboards.

I think this is hilarious.  For once it's the anti-God people being told to stuff airing thier beliefs in public.

Jolly good show!

Now, if we can just stop them from running our high school graduations by their rules.

The signs are internally inconsistent so too bad they didn't stay up.

Silly screeds and rantings followed by, "Atheism: Simply Reasonable"... I mean come on, talk about "You're doin' it wrong."

Maybe the purpose of the signs was to besmirch the reputation of atheists. Then again, that would have been a waste of money.

I thought they were a brilliantly self-revelatory display of reasonable atheism, and I’m disappointed that the brave people succumbed to “complaints.” Of course, this feeds their victimization fantasy.

“Hey, I’m an atheist, don’t you hate me? No, you don’t? Okay, I’ll kick your dog, scream insults at you, and throw droppings at your church. Now do you hate me? What, you forgive me and you’re praying for my salvation. HATER!!!! WAAAAAAAAA! You hate me because I’m so reasonable. WAAAAAAAAA!”

“Hey, I’m an atheist, don’t you hate me?

Then there is the generic version:

“Hey, I’m a __________, don’t you hate me?"

I have a feel atheist friends on Facebook. Whenever they attack Christianity, I ask them why don’t they attack Islam... No response from them at all. In fact they are cowards for not attacking Islam.

Don’t know if ObaMao is an actual or just a cultural Muslim. But the stuff which spews from Rev. Wright’s mouth certainly isn’t any form of Christianity.

I'd like to put up one which says:

Atheism: Worst retention rate of any religion in this world.
And it only gets worse in the next . . .

perhaps atheists & the left won't/don't attack islam because it is false. it is Christ, the Way, the Truth & the Life whom they malign.

For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 1Cor 1:18

For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace, 7because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so, 8and those who are in the flesh cannot please God. Romans 8:6

my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 5so that your faith would not rest on the wisdom of men, but on the power of God. 1Cor 2:4-5

6Yet we do speak wisdom among those who are mature; a wisdom, however, not of this age nor of the rulers of this age, who are passing away; 7but we speak God’s wisdom in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God predestined before the ages to our glory; 8the wisdom which none of the rulers of this age has understood; for if they had understood it they would not have crucified the Lord of glory; 1Cor 2:6-8

The fool has said in his heart, "There is no God." Psalm 14:1

I wonder why they think Zippy is a Christian?

It's safer to poke at Christians than Muslims.

When, OH WHEN! are they going to stop trying to pretend that 0’bambi is a Christian?

How many times do they have to be shown the video of his saying “...my moose limb faith,” or the video of his saying that he will “...side with the moose limbs,” or “the izlumbick call to prayer is the most beautiful sound,” before they realize that he’s a mozlum?

How many jihadis does he have to fund?

How much support for the mozlums over our own military does he have to give?

How many decent patriots have died for his “Rules of Engagement.”

RULES? In a WAR? Here’s the rules for a war: Kill people and break things until the enemy can fight no more. Don’t torture anyone to death for no reason. That’s it!
