Once he was raised a muslim, he is a muslim. There is no separation allowed and fatwas for true escapees from islam are issued all the time. He NEVER left islam.

This is why he bowed to the Saudi royals (who are the legal guardians of Mecca)— it was to let them know he is still in the muslim fold.
It is also why he is tight with Medvedev and Putin—they continue to use islam in their world hegemony. Even still, in the past certain islamics fought the Soviet infidels— people like bin Laden, who was an outcast from the family retainers (in construction business) to the House of Saud. Well, his father may have been a Muzie, and if the law of the Muslim faith says that makes him a Muslim, so be it.
I do not see him practicing that, or any other faith, which would fit with his being a Communist.
I still contend that he is truly an atheist.
I also suggest that his mother was also an atheist, or at best, an agnostic.
