ANAHEIM HILLS – Canyon High School will eliminate "Señiores and Señoritas Day," an event where students were encouraged to don Latino-themed attire, after several students this spring arrived to campus dressed as gang members, gardeners, border patrol agents and pregnant teens.
Orange Unified officials have announced they will also require the school's administrators and staff to take sensitivity training, and vow to better review student activities to ensure they aren't culturally insensitive.
These actions follow a district investigation into a complaint from a former student who called the "Señiores and Señoritas Day" racist and offensive to Latino students and their families. "It was determined some students dressed in stereotypical fashion which was not appropriate, and that the actions of these students were demeaning," Orange Unified Superintendent Michael Christensen said Thursday in a written statement. "The district is committed to working with staff and students of Canyon High School to ensure a positive school climate and culture in all school activities."
Canyon High held "Señiores and Señoritas Day" June 6 as part of the school's senior activity week. One boy dressed as a gardener, while another boy dressed as a pregnant girl pushing a baby stroller. Others dressed as gang members with bandanas and teardrop tattoo replicas. Some students wore plaid Pendleton shirts, ponchos, large sombreros and mustaches. A few students dressed as INS agents, walking around the campus "arresting Mexican students."
Several students chronicled the event through Facebook photos and postings. Students have described that those wearing the costumes came from different races and backgrounds.
"Señores and Señoritas Day" has been part of Senior Week for the past three years. The district began investigating in June after former student Jared Garcia-Kessler filed a complaint.

Very funny. However, the only place that this should take place is in Spanish Class. We had a day where we brought in Spanish/Mexican Food to share with the class. We did not wear any costumes or anything like that but the class was a lot of fun as we ate and spoke some Spanish we learned.

lol...if I had to guess I would say that this is what happened: In the name of diversity the school instituted this day. I'm betting that they promoted and upheld the values of other cultures and downplayed and assaulted American values.
Well kids being kids and teenagers being rebellious this was the natural result...it is kind of funny but it wouldn't have happened if the school was TRULY color blinded and promoted America as it used to be...a melting pot where all could blend together as Americans.

And as for the Christian thing, practitioners are public enemy number one on school campuses these days. “Don’t you dare bring a Bible to school. Don’t you dare turn in a paper with the name Jesus on it.”

I am still laughing from your comment..........what have our schools become? All sane people HAVE to remove the unconstitutional, EVIL, public school system. Parents need ALL control over the education of their children—so children will become adults who can actually “Think” with logic and reason and avoid “group think” that is being programmed into them to destroy individuality (rights).
It is amazing that some of these students after years of brainwashing and MSM agitprop can actually see through the stupidity of the intellectual Marxists. It has to be some “Truth” filtering through.
