Regarding GPS technology around the DC Beltway we have some fairly rugged countryside adjacent to the highway. It's a regular event for people to have a wreck, go off the road, end up in the jungle filled ravine and be LOST for weeks or months!

We've had bears in the front yard too ~ speaking of close-in wilderness. GPS technology might be a good idea, or built in transponders to locate wrecks.

Not when it is being used to keep tabs on how many miles you drive and adjust your insurance rates accordingly.
