Hm. I re-read it, but I have a difficult time reconciling it with the concept of doing anything that the Klan did at any time.

The way I see it, what is going down now is flat out wrong from an enforcement, judicial and media/educational perspective.

Violations of assault laws on the books aren’t being enforced.

When they are ostensibly enforced, they aren’t really (see cases of whites being accused of hate crimes versus blacks or other minorities)

And lastly, the government (local, state, federal) and media’s handling of these types of issues is shocking. The intentional omission of vital information (race of the perpetrators) in the reporting of these cases, and the reluctance to categorize them for what they are, a racially motivated crime committed by blacks on whites. Again, that is a whole different issue...there should be NO “hate crime” legislation or distinction...an assault is an assault, a murder is a murder. Who of us gives a rat’s ass what was in the mind of the person committing a crime? I think we would all agree on that.

But I would disagree with patriotsblood, in that I don’t see a “backlash” of any kind, and I most certainly don’t like the idea we are going to make up for “injustices” committed preferentially against whites by a racially motivated Justice Department committed under the current administration.

What I see is the possibility of returning to a situation less highly polarized than the current one, and a polarized situation not fostered and supported by a racist president and a justice department that has openly said it is not going to pursue actions on racially based incidents against whites, only when they occur against blacks or other minorities.

Could be that I read more into patriotblood’s post, but I don’t see how else one could interpret that. I just don’t see a backlash of any kind, and especially not one akin to anything the Klu Klux Klan carried out.
