re: Those elements of the GOP that are cutting off Akin because he doesn’t lockstep to the progressive republican movement are the real jerks.

So is it your political assessment that two other completely capable pro-life conservatives, Brunner and Steelman, would be cut off for not getting in lockstep with the so-called progressive Republican movement? That amazes me. The party is cutting off Akin because he is not progressive? How is that the party supports conservatives in races all across the country? How is it that the party is behind the pro-life plank in the platform? And behind fiscal conservatism? My political assessment is that the party would support either one immediately and overwhelmingly, and conservatives from around the country would send lots of money to another completely capable pro-life conservative. The problem is not the party; it is Akin.

Exactly! The apologists for Akin are setting up these straw men and blaming Romney, Rinos and the GOP Establishment for Akin's own silly comments.

This is an insult to conservatism. We should not be crying wolf about the GOPe and RINOs because they do exist and they are a problem. To blame them for Akin's own words only hurts our credibility and the next time they undercut us FOR REAL they will laugh and claim we're just crying wolf again.

Often times it really is Conservatism vs RINOism but this is not one of those cases. To claim it it makes us look like liars.

What's stopping them? I say have at it. If you're right you're right. But I'm not seeing that happen. I don't see Crossroads getting behind any other candidate. Looks more like they've pulled out and are letting the seat hang high and dry to chance, the Akin team's political prowess, and the grass roots motivation of the local electorate. If you know otherwise, link it to me so I can read it. Otherwise, your political assessment isn't more than wishful thinking and reality lies elsewhere. And, again lest you've missed it, a faction of the GOP he refers to as "party bosses" are at issue with him. The GOP as a whole is not the problem. Try to keep up.
