It is a sad story. Todd Akin was about to become a U.S. Senator. It was his to lose. The polls favored him and all he had to do was stay alert, focused, disciplined and eternally thankful for the good fortune that fell into his lap.
Instead of realizing how fortuante he was that two better known candidates beat each other up, which allowed him to steal victory, he threw caution to the wind and gave a sloppy, incredibly stupid off-the-cuff answer to deadly serious question. Unbeliveable!
In an instant his crowning professional political ambition to become a U.S. Senator came crashing to a halt. The sheer speed of his fall and the extent of damage done to his campaign appears to be so overwhelming that he refuses to accept it. Deep down he must know he has fatally damaged his chances of ever defeating Senator Claire McCaskill but apparently he is still in denial and grasping at anything to salvage his candidacy and return to the place he was just a mere ten days ago.
It is a devastating personal tragedy for Todd Akin but one he brought upon himself. He has nobody to blame except himself and his own personal hubris and unwillingness to stay focused and disciplined.
We will soon learn what type of man Todd Akin really is. Is he big enough to accept the consequences of his own actions? Is he smart enough to realize he cannot lead or champion the causes he claims to hold so dear? When will he step aside and let another candidate that is not fatally damaged take up the charge against McCaskill and the liberals.
Todd, go out a winner. Do the right thing, the big thing, the courageous thing and let someone else lead the fight. Someone else that can win.
As soon as there is viable candidate that can carry on. Can you give us a name of one???
Brilliantly explained with the proper context. I couldn’t have said it better. Republicans need to learn how to win so they can move forward and accomplish their good works.
As near as I can tell, he has about two weeks to see if it turns around. At that point, he can bow out, and watch one of the RINOs get put up in his place. The GOP-E will see to it that the 97.25 rated candidate will be replaced by a squishy one.
