Rasmussen Daily Presidential Tracking Poll(Obama 47-Mitt 44)
www.rasmussenreports.com ^ | Monday, August 27, 2012 | Scott Rasmussen

Posted on 08/27/2012 6:47:45 AM PDT by CaptainK

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows President Obama attracting support from 47% of voters nationwide, while Mitt Romney earns 44% of the vote. Four percent (4%) prefer some other candidate, and five percent (5%) are undecided.

A president’s job approval rating is one of the best indicators for assessing his chances of reelection. Typically, the president’s job approval rating on Election Day will be close to the share of the vote he receives. Currently, 50% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the president's job performance. Forty-nine percent (49%) at least somewhat disapprove of the job Obama is doing (see trends).

Nobody wants to say that but it’s 100% true. Now that i agreed with you i’m sure his defenders will come out of the woodwork to explain yet again how great a man he is and how we all need to stand strong with him

It's also not our fathers' America. This country long ago lost its way morally, economically and spiritually.

True, but Obama hasn't polled this well since May

Last weekend had the exact same numbers, within a point, at least. It may have been 47-43, but almost identical. I don't know what that means. If his weekend model is broken, it would make sense two back to back August weekends would see the same thing. I just don't know. I tend to think this is an irregularity, but I just don't know at this stage. My general feeling is that the race is close, both are in the mid-40s, which is worse for the incumbent than the challenger...that Romney wins with a good campaign as the challenger in a crappy economy.

Obama is to America what Castro was to Cuba.

Well, that’s not quite true - - Obama likes to “chase the little white ball around the golf course.”

“currently, 50% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the president's job performance”

In other words 50% of the people you run into today are idiots.

This is great news! I don’t buy it but don’t want conservatives to get lazy.

National Take Out The Trash Day is November 6th!

Horse feathers.

We’re stupid if we fall for this crap.

Not Akin affect, instead, it is:

“conservatives are tired of idiots calling us knowing they represent liberal polling organizations and they’ll lie, cheat, steal, oversample, so we hang up on them and since we’re working, we’re harder to get ahold of and answer the phone”

Thus, you have 2010 all over again where the pollsters will be wrong again. I’m also tired of hearing how righteous Rasmussen is.

Yep.. More unemployment and debt.

Problem is, most don't identify with the debt issue because they assume it's the problem of some future generation. As for unemployment, so long as the government continues handing people money for not working, along with EBT cards and handouts to defray nearly any other challenge they might face.. I guess it only follows that they'd embrace socialism.

For over 100 years the electorate has wanted a federal government that subsidized their need and a sucker for “class warfare”.. This poll is not a shocker along with the fact that a large percentage of Romney voters desire to create a federal government that caters to their needs as well.

Those who yearn for liberty and limited government are a small minority in this country. Free Republic is an echo chamber in the face of a country who likes to vote for those “promising” more or morphing a more intrusive government into their liking.

I’d chaulk this up to the weekend effect, but AKIN clearly has had an effect of some capacity, but I’d chaulk this more up to weekend polling.

Romney and Ryan need to go out every day until the election and hammer away at Obama’s failed policies, and not be thrown off message by the constant Democrat distraction machine. Obama-Axelrod have been effective in making Romney take the bait over Bain, tax returns, etc.- this has to stop; he needs to shut out all that and stay focused:

Remember when the Democrats bleated away in ‘06 about how it was the “worst economy since Herbert Hoover” (even though the unemployment rate was often under 5%...), or how Obama constantly repeated the line, “We can’t have four more years of the failed policies of George W. Bush...” in ‘08? Romney needs to apply the same tactic in going after Obama. I know some Republicans frown on repeating statements (because they think it’s beneath them, or childish, or whatever... but it works).

Romney needs to go on the offensive on the economy to remind voters- and I would use that line, “failed policies of Barack Obama” repeatedly- just to irritate Obama. There are still a fair amount of voters who think that there isn’t much difference between Obama and Romney on the economy- Romney and Ryan need to create a stark contrast and put Obama on the defensive.

People actually viewing Obama favorably, and this is Rasmussen and likely voters. Really troublesome.

I can blame Romney somewhat mainly for being a bland personality, but a positive view of Obama? It’s demographics, media, liberal education.

"True, but Obama hasn't polled this well since May"

Here at the shore, we haven't had a weekend this nice since May! Plus kids are going back to school next week. Next to the last chance to take advantage!

I'd ignore next weekend (Labor Day), too. Even Rasmussen often stops reporting his poll results over holiday weekends. The numbers just aren't reliable.

This is going to come down to the state of the US economy, and unless you work on Wall Street, most people would say the US economy is in awful shape.

But how anybody who is so arrogant, shallow and thoroughly self-absorbed can manage to be “likable”, has to be one of the really great sales jobs so far of this young century. Beneath that veneer, which is the hallmark of the practiced sociopath, is a vicious, mean-minded CREEP, who has his own brand of anti-colonial hatred for all people of northern European origin. Dreams from his father, for sure.

exactly what I think every time I see him on TV with his put on calmness, and smile routine.

You have an increasing population that gets news from places such as “The View” or late night comedy shows. If Obama wins, we will have an even more liberal person in the White House starting in 2016.

got that right.

I am amazed at how dumb most Americans are when it comes to politics.
The obama voters have gone down in history as the American idol dumbest voters in history but what is also scary is the ones who never tune into what is happening in this country and think the media tells them the truth.

Look at the black population, how the hell can they again vote for their messiah after everything is worse in their community and on top of that how about homosexual sham marriage?
Is color that important that they hate the whites so much?

I still get people who have no clue about fast and furious, illegals getting amnesty, illegals getting welfare, homosexual agenda being endorsed by this girlie guy and many in his party, hell when I mention that they really do get pissed off so this media crap of saying more and more accept it is not true around here anyway.
They have no clue about this admin suing states and cities over immigration, ID laws, etc they have no idea about ACORN, fraud and voting, how oabma refused to get Bin Laden until pushed by Clinton.
How Catholics and Jews are being ignored, how the working class and middle class are worse off, how the debt is .

I won't go on because the list is endless but I do ave to ask .
When the hell are people in this country going to understand that the biased group we call the media does not tell the truth and that the Dems is not the party of JFK?

We should easily win the north east and especially PA if we had a fair media but alas we do not thus we will see the north east stay left wing and Catholics, Jews will still vote for them and not understand about this admin couldn't careless about them

Meh. There are too many polls right now saying too many different things for me to get too worried or too excited about any of them.

It’s all media driven. Gas is soaring, unemployment claims up... and all the media talks about is Todd Akin (Thank you Mike Huckabee for convincing this dolt to hang tough).

Obama’s approval at 50% is worrisome - especially with the economic trainwreck which he owns. It is further proof that the liberal media bias is still powerful - no matter how much we try to dismiss it.

With that said. Obama always does get a bump on the weekends. I think you’ll see Romney back in the lead by week’s end. But still disturbing that he has this much support 4 full years in - with a disaster for a record.
