With the trial of Major Nidal Hasan, the Ft. Hood killer, on indefinite hold because of Hasans beard, military attorneys told a U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forcess that a military judge has the right to order a defendants beard forcibly shaved.
The military judge presiding over Hasans trial has refused to go forward with Hasan in the courtroom with a beard. The case as to whether or not Hasan can be forcibly shaved is now being heard in the appeals court.
Hasan claims he grew his beard for religious reasons, however, beards are against army regulations. The military judge in Hasans trial, Col. Gregory Gross, says "that a military trial proceeds without a distracting and disruptive sideshow featuring an officer accused of flagrantly disrespecting the army, his superiors and the military judge."
Because of the beard, Gross has banned Hasan from the courtroom since the trial began in June. Instead, he allowed him to watch the proceedings on a closed-circuit television in different room. However, Gross wants Hasan present during the court-martial so his absence will not leave a loophole for Hasan to appeal if he is convicted.
Gross wants Hasan forcibly shaved. Gross attorneys argued, "Forced shaving is not a novel concept in the military. Army regulations expressly authorize nonconsensual haircutting and face-shaving for recalcitrant incarcerated soldiers ... If the judge has authority to bind and gag a disruptive accused (soldier), then certainly he has authority to forcibly shave (Hasan)."
While shouting Allah Akbar, Hasan went on a shooting rampage at Ft. Hood in 2009, killing 13
A few broad heads might do the trick... Those have razors on them...
Glock makes a wonderful .40S&W razor. So does Sig. I believe Springfield Armory has one as well. Yep, I checked, Taurus too.
Geez. About time. It should have happened DAY ONE, with a frikking dull razor.
Boy, does that piss me off.
Thirteen dead soldiers and a beard delays the trial? The real reason is that this thirty five year old degenerate who could not find a wife “sufficiently devout” had more than a few inconvenient facts uncovered hose when army investigators searched his computer and apartment. Those facts would embarrass our new gay friendly military and its CIC. This trial will never take place before the election if at all. Pity the poor families of those slaughtered soldiers.
Screw the comb over..pin him down and shave him.
The fact that they haven’t done it yet proves the Army is wussified and worries about offending the rag heads...totally un-sat and so Obamasized.
The families of victims should be screaming for justice...
And slamming Obummer for it.
Dull ones do more damage.. why are you being so nice? ;)
Post of the week!
If he must be tried and doesn’t want to die without a beard.
Shave him, try him, convict him, give him two days to grow a beard and kill him...
That is too good for him and a whole hell of a lot better than the people he shot and killed got from him.
He looks like pig food to me.
What is taking so freaking long. Nidal should have been shaved weeks ago!
Shave, shoot & shovel.
This case isn’t being held up because of a beard, it is held up because Obama wants it held up.
14. One of the victims was pregnant.
Dunk his head in a vat of Nair and move on with it. Execute his ass by firing squad.
I say give him a shave with M1A2 tank treads with bacon grease on the pads to slick the hair down a little. Either that or a Rachael Corrie D9 dozer blade coated with bacon grease.
Can I use a weedeater?
Yeah? I bet it won't. Prove it.
He is still a member of the United States Army and libel to its regulations. What I would like to know is, why does it take a judge to make a decision that the Officer in Charge of his care should made without a second thought? He should be dry shaved daily... Hand me the blade...
Well, it's a bit early in the year - my trees haven't started losing their leaves yet - but yeah, I'll go bolt the mulching blade on the Toro just for this.
1. Straight razor
2. “Ooops!”
