Weather Channel Goes Political
NewsBusters ^ | P.J. Gladnick

There is a sixty percent chance that Republicans will rain on your weekend plans.

The Weather Channel hasn't yet gone quite that far to inject politics into weather reporting but they sure seem to be working on it. Their reporting on Tropical Storm Isaac has brought out the inner liberal of a channel that was once noted for its complete professionalism but, sadly, seems to be going off into political tangents completely unrelated to the weather. In the first example, they republish a highly biased Associated Press article on their Weather Channel site which touches on Tropical Storm Isaac but quickly devolves into not so subtle slams on Republicans. While reading this, you need to continuously pinch yourself as a reminder that it is actually on The Weather Channel website:

I tuned out The Pregnant Channel long, long ago. I figured they were spending more time doing the nasty than studying on what the weather was up to.

Try the National Weather Service/NOAA site. That’s what I use. No ads too.

It was worse this morning on BBC America.

The talking-head was talking about Issac, and how it was no longer a big concern for Tampa, and how it was heading for landfal at or near New Orleans, and how this would test the political mettle of......................................
.........................................................
.................................Mitt Romney.

As if, as the mere GOP candidate for President, and though there is a sitting President, Obama, who is, ultmately, responsible for whatever Federal governmet response to Issac is needed, that Romney had to, with regard to Issac hitting Katrina, work, somehow, to expunge the ghost of Bush and Katrina (a media-Dim created ghost). The guy was dead serious. And an idiot.

I quit watching their drivel a long time ago. They’re useless...seems when there’s bad weather and you need info, they’re showing “Storm Stories”, or one of their other pre recorded features...which are mostly to aggrandize one of their reporters standing out in a snow flurry somewhere.

I get my weather radar and forecasts from www.intellicast.com, and I like it just fine...they’re more accurate and dependable than TWC, and not political.

When it comes up again in January, my Wunderground subscription of many years' standing will be allowed to lapse.

May tens of thousands do likewise.

Wx on the 8s is the one redeeming feature on the channel. No politics, just straight weather info and radar. Problem is now with these infernal and incessant shows on fireworks, on running an aviation business in Canada and the 87th repeat of Cantore dancing with some old lady in Louisiana or some made-up story about the hurricane that eats New York, a viewer no longer gets much needed and sometimes vital weather info.

The Wx Channel has completely screwed the pooch on their core business, or what used to be their core business.

The Weather Channel is a farce. Nothing but a bunch of commie libs pimping Algore’s hoax and scam. IMHO!

The WC went political some years ago when it uncritically sucked down and spewed forth the Mann-made global warming fraud.

My favorite is when they have a reporter on the beach in full storm gear breathlessly shouting and people come strolling by in the background wearing t-shirts, shorts, and bathing suits.

Do a Goggle on Citizen Weather Observer Program (CWOP); I have two weather stations that send data through the system and they also show up on other services such as weather underground.

Both stations are Peet Brothers U2100’S and can also be seen on aprs.fi near Belton,Texas.

at my house:

at a fellow hams house overlooking Stillhouse Hollow Lake:

If you are into weather check out the Gibson Ridge products GRL2 and GRL3. I run weather nets and these are my prime tools.

I also get my base data from the National Weather Service sites. All weather data starts there; the other folks just massage and sensationalize it for public consumption.

FWIW...

Leftist politicize everything. You cannot trust their science or their integrity. Asking a leftist to not politicize is similar to asking them to give up their religion.

Isaac won’t be anywhere near Katrina in power and destruction, but they sure have been implying it’ll be real bad.

Basically another Category Zero Hurricane. Which is to say a strong tropical storm/weak hurricane that was hyped as a major hurricane. The flooding along the coast and Mississippi river will be bad, but that rain is much needed and the Mississippi river has been running low. They also did this last year I think for that east coast Hurricane that shut down New York. All because Al Gore said we would have stronger Hurricanes with continued warming weather. Wrong again Al.
