IIRC I think (not sure) the Constitution expressly allows the use of "naval infantry" in home soil operations. Back when it was (Constitution) ratified that would mean the marines. Not sure if POSSE COMITATUS changed that verbiage.

Not sure if POSSE COMITATUS changed that verbiage. Assuming you're memory is correct Posse Cometaus cannot change the verbiage: the Constitution must be amended in order to change it.
