Here’s a statistic for statistic’s sake: No incumbent presidenthas ever been re-elected with less votes than he won his first term with. We already see Obama’s camp saying their base isn’t fired up, turnout’s going to be down, so there is hope buried in that stat. When presidents win a second term, it is always almost a landslide because of the great job they’ve done, and not to give them more time to effect the changes they’ve started, and which have proven lackluster at best.
